watchamakalit Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 After seeing @CGCWO before and after pics, I really like the black tow mirrors. My Question is would paint be the best way to go about it or should I look into something like plasti dip? I have slowly repainting trim on my truck as I have it off for various projects. I have been using a Krylon Satin black. Should I just scuff and shoot the mirrors and brackets?
The86manche Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 Clean then good, scuff them the best you can with red scuff or some sandpaper and use self etch primer first! Otherwise it will eventually just peel.
Pete M Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 most anything can be painted. proper prep is paramount

I used 320 and then 600 grit sand paper to scuff them and then sprayed with rustoleum satin finish (2) good coats. Key I’ve found is to allow them to cure 36-48 hrs before trying to re-install. After install I used a foam brush to touch up the bolt heads.
