1993 Cps plug to 1987 Plug?

So I was an idiot and bought a Cps with the wrong plug

 

Its the newer style 3 wire plug while I need the older 2 wire plug.

 any hope in switching them around or do I need to cut my losses

I just cut the wires off and hard splice them together..

Or swap it out at parts store.

Thats my thought, I would swap it out if I hadn't ordered from quadratic. They also decided that color coded wire is not necessary so I'm a little stuck in what to splice together.

I just twisted them together untill it fired up and ran, then soldering them to ensure they 👍

Welp might as well send it then ill update if anything blows up

find out which cable is A and B and splice them togehter, the other is just shielding

3 hours later and nothing I'm not having any luck with the wiring combination and so far can't get any signal from the damn sensor, I'm going to have to continue this tommorow however.

probably DOA, how many volts it outputs?

You can't use a 91+ CPS in a Renix system. They operate on a completely different operating theory. Completely aside from the connector, they are not electonically compatible. You need to get a CPS for a 1986 thru 1990 Jeep. (AFAIK, the 4-cyl and 6-cyl Renix engines used the same CPS.)

I'm amazed at the amount of misinformation given to the OP before Eagle came along.

Ah well should have seen that coming when I saw the extra wire, thanks.

I guess I'll just fire the parts cannon once more and carry this one as a spare if I come across someone who needs it.
