Spooky.truck
I bought an 88 4x4 long bed auto comanche a few weeks ago that is in absolutely beautiful condition. I bought it with the vision of converting it to a full electric build and have been doing research on what the market is like for components but tbh i have almost no mechanic experience. I am hoping i could do this conversion in the next few years or so and am hoping to gain as much knowledge in that time as possible on car mechanics and EV conversions. I am a fast and hands on learner so i feel capable of accomplishing most mechanics if i had correct and clear instructions. so i am wondering, has anyone ever attempted this before or another EV build who would be willing to lend some and knowledge on whats available and what will fit /work well? Or are you interested in doing a build like this and would be interested in doing it with me or converting your truck at the same time? I am in eastern AZ. I am already aware this is an expensive project done right, safe and clean, but am interested in investing. thanks for the help!
Pete M
you'll be inventing a lot of stuff as you go, so I would start with becoming experienced with the care and maintenance of the truck as it stands, and then take a couple classes on welding and electrical systems. I look forward to your project I'll help however I can with the MJ side of the equation. but wiring in big electric motors and preventing lithium batteries from catching fire from overheating is a bit out of my wheelhouse. My guess is they will have somewhere around $150K invested. Go here......most recent 4 vids are the electric series. https://www.youtube.com/c/SalvagetoSavage/videos

howeitsdone
Make sure to follow Rich Rebuilds on YT. His crew does Combustion to Electric and vise-versa as well as a lot of Tesla work. Some of it may be Tesla specific, but it helps get an idea of how everything is working. Could probably pick up some good info there. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
