Jackh37097
I previously posted about my ‘89 jeep Comanche not running, you guys helped me get it running again! And it runs well! But all good things must come to and end, and as we took out the French five speed, our good times came to an end. We’re missing about half of the gears in it, and it looks to be the problem that made this Jeep sit up for so many years. Instead of throwing another POS transmission at it, I’m looking to do an AX-15 swap! I’m making this thread because I’m not sure what all that entails. What I can provide is that I have a 1989 jeep Comanche with a 4wd 4.0 inline 6. Thanks to anyone who takes their time to give out any advice, as it’s much appreciated! MiNi Beast
Get ax15 for for your year, pre 94, with internal slave. 95+ to utilize external slave bellhousing setup. Ensure input shaft tip will fit in crank bearing or bushing in 4.0. You will also need a crossmember for ax15 as well. Enjoy.
scaleless
Why would you go through the effort to buy an early AX15 if you swap an external slave onto it? Just get a 94+ transmission.
87MJTIM
As mentioned in your "Help!" thread - AX15 crossmember!

zaconrad
If your willing to spen the money dead jeep makes a ax15 conversion kit. It comes with the trans, transfer case, bell housing, and clutch. Just watch out though because it made for a cherokee so you will probally have to get new driveshafts.
