Dave Vig
Hoping to get some help. Ok I put in a new clutch and clutch master cylinder on my 1988 Comanche 4x4 5spd. 4.0. When I picked it up from my mechanic I drove it off and the clutch had no pressure and I couldn’t get it into gear unless I pumped the clutch pedal to at least get back to the shop. Left it there all weekend was called that it was running fine. I drove it home was doing great, then all of the sudden went to take for a spin and same thing. No clutch pressure and couldn’t get into gear. What a Freakn bummer. Any help? I could use it thank you David

jdog
Did they just do a clutch? And nothing else, what was the reason it went to the shop?
cruiser54
It's always a good idea to replace the rubber hose/metal pipe in the clutch hydraulic system. The originals got mushy and disintegrated inside. Here's something to try in the meantime. Pump the clutch pedal about 40 times, not going all the way to the floor. Walk away and come back in 20 minutes and see how it is. Those systems, while simple, were the most confounding SOBs to get the air out of. Dave Vig
I will try what you said cruiser 54 and yes Jdog I purchased a Luk clutch kit and fly wheel from rock auto. Also put in a clutch master cylinder. Did not replace the lines though. Very strange! Like it wants to work. If I take it around the block it did ok. Then when I stop the truck the clutch has no pressure and it won’t go into gear. Grinds when I put it in reverse.
JustEmptyEveryPocket
I had something similar on a cherokee. Clutch worked great when it was cold, but got progressively worse the hotter the vehicle got (and also the hotter the ambient temp got). Did Cruiser's trick of pumping the pedal after a short drive. Has been fine for over a month now.
