Eagle
Does anyone know what a 242 transfer case weighs? I need to pull one and I have to decide if I think I can bench press it or if I should track down the friend I lent my tranny jack to -- three years ago. I know what a 231D weighs... 242 should be close in weight to it. I have lifted both and I think the 231D may be heavier. 231D weighs about 72 lbs. 75sv1
I looked at a chart. Its was 86 lbs vs 65 lbs for the 231.
krustyballer16
Pulling it you can handle it easy, I don't like putting em back up by myself. But I'm a wimp lol Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
fiatslug87
I always use mechanical advantage if possible, us old farts need it.
derf
It's light enough for one out of shape old fart like me to move around by hand. Lifting it up and stabbing it in place by hand might be possible. But not by me with the Jeep near the ground. Getting the leverage to safely move it around is tricky and I don't like the idea of being under it directly. Two people can maneuver it much easier. If the Jeep was up on a lift where I could maneuver it easier I might try doing it by hand. But I have a transmission jack for a reason so that's what I use.
