Still learning and discovered this connector coming off the transfer case (1987 Comanche Pioneer 4x4 Auto). Does anyone know why they are for/go to? One wire is black/red the other is lime/yellow and grey. I can’t find a open female end anywhere with in reach of them.

Looks to be the wires for the 4WD indicator switch, the switch itself is usually on the driver side of the tcase on the top of the unit on the planetary section of the case (kind of above the front driveshaft on the part that attaches to the transmission if that makes sense)

That makes sense, but I can’t find the female end it should connect to. Re-read your post and I’ll have to see if I can find the connector on the transmission

Reverse light connector

Not reverse light switch. Backup lights work as they should.

Some more digging and looking this wire is plugged into a connector on the transfer case/trans. It seems like it’s a jumper to go from the trans/transfer case to some where in the wiring harness. It’s just over a foot long and has male plugs on both ends. That’s the connection I can’t find,

thank for all your help and insight so far!

Nothing that I am aware of, but you never know. VIN is registered and I believe it showed 4x4 auto from factory. I guess it could be a swap trans/transfer case. There has definitely been some work done as the trans lines are all re-routed or either not mounted as they should be from factory.
