Pete M Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 oh. well, that'll do it. shouldn't be hard to find a used engine if you're in a hurry.

Pete M Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 they are super tough engines. as long as the rebuilder is competent, you should be golden

Pete M Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 the AW4 is one of the best automatics ever made.
89 MJ Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 I rarely hear of people having AW-4 issues. The only reason that most people pull it out is to swap in an AX-15.

And I’ve pulled some serious weight with my MJ. I just keep it out of overdrive if towing and keep the fluids and filter fresh. Not to keen on the shifting points as it’s always wanting to downshift ahead of schedule on me but the transgo kit will take care of that.
