How many metric tons where made?

The thread that you posted above was a SWB truck. I would doubt that Chrysler would have a number in their system, just like there is not known number of Laredos, Pioneers, Eliminators, ect.

huh didn't realize that

there is literally no way to know the breakdowns of trucks sold.  as far as we know, Chrysler doesn't even have that info. :(

all years could have been ordered with the MT package :L:

that sucks.

It was weird because everyone was like a metric ton?????? and I didn't think they were that rare but no being on this forum for a while I realize how few they are. it feels good to have something one of a kind

your statement kinda conflicts a bit with your plans for the truck.  once you lift it and replace all the bits that make it an MT, it's not really an MT any more.  :dunno:  though I guess you could put the old stuff in a pile somewhere if you ever wanted to go back.

If a vehicle isn't rusty, its a perfect candidate for a restoration. When you restore a vehicle, you are replacing most of the high mileage parts anyways. If you read through my build thread, I did a restoration (actually more of a resto-mod) on my truck, and my truck was considerably worse off than your truck, granted, you do have higher mileage. Unless I find a good deal on a northern 2 door XJ or MJ, my next XJ/MJ restoration would be a high mileage southern/western truck because it is a lot easier to replace wear parts than body panels.

That said, its your truck, and you want to wheel it, which is fine, I would wheel my blue truck too, I just haven't had an opportunity to yet, but my advice is don't cut the cab or bed at all.

also any truck I buy here is going to be rust free.

You seriously have no clue how jealous us rust belt MJ owners are of everyone else. Where I am, you see trucks that need their frames repaired with $200,000+ miles for $1,500.

its a blessing and a curse because they are all really mint and expensive and don't lend themselves to being cut up. but in the grand scheme of things I would say that Its not like I am going to pull and @MiNi Beaston it:roflmao:. it will look clean whatever I do to it. IMHO a jeep is supposed to be decent offroad. (and yes I know that stock comanches are fine)

your right I guess. In my mind it's kinda too far gone for a restoration to many miles. I mean the two really metric ton parts the trans cooler and the leafs are still going to be functional

Only the springs make it a metric ton, trans coolers were available without the MT springs.

leafs, coils, shocks, wheels, rear axle, and probably trans cooler if auto.  but yeah, the coils/leafs/shocks are the unique-to-MT things.  the others could be had with other packages.  but numbers matching is numbers matching.  I can't make an MT truck outta a non-MT truck.

no rust free truck is too far gone for a resto. :D   people are even restoring the rotted trucks out east.

it's a classic Jeep.  the possibilities are endless :D

yeah the details on what makes in a mt are foggy. some had d44 rears not all some had trans coolers not all some. mine has a d44 and a trans cooler

theres plenty of other more resto worthy mjs out there. theres a black short box on ksl that is a great candidate. https://cars.ksl.com/listing/6871987#

When I made my comment 18 minutes ago. :roflmao:

Whoops

it's ok:roflmao:. I mean I am "restoring" the interior giving it new paint. It seems not like a full resto mod but I am definitely saving it and giving it some love

always in flux is a conversation. :D

cleaner doesn't automatically mean it's "more worthy", only that it'd be easier.  as original as mine is, 30 years from now no one is going to be banging on my door throwing money at me for my boring 2wd pioneer.   the most common trim with the most common color on the most common year.  and I bought it specifically for taking it to car shows.   but I can't afford a really rare truck like a Laredo or Eliminator.  those have all gotten out of my price range.  I sacrificed rarity for originality and, as long as that makes me smile, I will keep the truck. :D

Currently Metric Tons comprise approximately 3.3% of the Registry, if that means anything. :))

I guess that does kinda.

Interesting, I believe the current estimate of total MJs is 200,000, then there are (or were) about 6,600 MT MJs, if the ratio stays the same.

Jesse, believe it or not, but I had a very similar plan to you when I started on my MJ 3 years ago. It was going to be an offroad trail truck. Its funny how the project evolved. Its also kinda funny, when you look at the parts that you are currently looking for (adjustable control arms), its looking like, when phase 1 of yours is completed, we will have quite similar trucks.
