XJ rear dana 44 trade-sc

I know this is a complete and total longshot but I figured it was worth a try. I’m looking to trade my xj d44 with 3.55s for a mj dana 44 with 3.07s since those gears will work best with my current setup. I’m not looking to sell the 44 I have outright. If I can’t make a trade deal in the next few weeks then I’ll just weld on new perches and put the xj 44 in my truck as is. My axle does need new brakes but I have all the parts which I can work into the deal if the brakes on yours are good. Axle is located near Charleston, SC but I can travel within a couple hours for the right deal

My MJ D44 came with 3.07 gears, wish it would have had the 3.55.  I've already stripped the axle in preparation for 3.73s/& a Trutrac.  I have the original set of 3.07 gears if you are interested.

I appreciate the offer but if I don’t make a trade deal on this axle then I’ll likely just leave the gears alone and rebuild it with all new parts later down the road. I just don’t trust myself enough to try and set up gears

what about finding another XJ front with 3.55s?  then you get a better ratio! :D

My truck is 2wd so I don’t really have to worry about the front. I don’t have overdrive so the higher the ratio, the happier it is on the interstate. Long term I plan on swapping in a 700r4 but for now I want to step down to smaller tires and just keep the gears I have if I can. If not then I’ll just leave it on 33s with the 3.55 d44 until I can swap the trans and go down to 31s
