What’s up guys , I’m In the process of Getting my Ax15 ready to be installed in my 87 , I was about to change the output seal but I noticed that my new one doesn’t have a lip on it like the old one does. Did I order the wrong part or is it just made like that now ?

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

is the bushing bottomed out in the hole?  It's been a few years so I don't remember how mine looked, but I used the same bushing and had no problems.

I think the hole has a round bottom and if so the bushing won't be touching in the middle, only at the outer edge.  can you confirm?

Not sure , the bushing is ruined , I messed up :mad:

Got it out , i knew i had ruined it when the clutch alignment tool wouldn’t fit in. 
   Removing this really 

humbled me , man what a pain in the @$$. Lessons like this that you never forget. . :mad:

Want me to throw some part numbers in here? I see theres some pilot bearings and such available but am not sure how compatible they will be.

 

83502118 here's the 2wd extension output seal. Discontinued but some left. Course at that point youd be better off searching the PN.

see, it only goes down to that shoulder.  I get the feeling it was just fine. :(  pain i the butt I know, but fortunately it's not a super expensive part.  :L:

Went and picked up another one , I did the same thing and it sticks out a tiny bit , do you think it’ll be okay ?

This time I was more careful and heated the end of the crank and bushing and Used the end of a wooden hammer to drive it in , same result again that it sticks out a tiny bit. Not sure if I should worry or not. 
   Thankfully this time I didn’t ruin it and my clutch alignment tool fits in beautifully.

here it is installed. It appears like it bottomed out in the lip inside the crank as far as I could see. 
here you can see how much it sticks out.

Grease is messy. I like using bread. Get the super squishy white bread, pack it in there, and find a bolt that fits the hole well. Start hammering and adding more bread as needed. Works great.
