rylee144 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 I removed my 2wd axle and have a couple questions. Are the brake calipers the same? Are the roters the same? I believe they are. Thanks I want to sell/get rid of the axle but don't want to discard items that would work on my new 4wd axle.
eaglescout526 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Calipers are the same rotors are not. Now if you had an 86- early 87 2wd axle, the knuckles and rotors are the same as 4wd knuckles until 89. But 2wd knuckles have the spindle built into it while the rotor holds all the bearings and such, thus making them incompatible with 4wd axles. Now I’m sure there’s someone out there who could be looking for those knuckles or rotors.
rylee144 Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 Just to confirm I won't need to swap the calipers i currently have. Thanks man.
eaglescout526 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Shouldn’t have to. Should bolt right up. No problem.
rylee144 Posted December 28, 2020 Author Posted December 28, 2020 My old calipers would not fit. I swapped them but prolly messed it all up. Is the brake line put on correctly or do I need to flip it around? Secondly is the hub nut on right? The castle nut that hold the pin seems to sink in a ways to far
eaglescout526 Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 What year is the D30? That nut in the center is more like a cover for the actual nut that holds the hub on while acting like a castle nut. Its weird.
rylee144 Posted December 28, 2020 Author Posted December 28, 2020 No clue, the xj was a 91 if I recall correctly. They swapped in a 8.8 rear so maybe that was swapped too.
eaglescout526 Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 Ok that could be the problem why the calipers aren’t lining up correctly. Kinda the reason why the 84-89 knuckles are sought after because they can hold better calipers.

Is the bearing in there -- and the big washer? Is there a bearing race behind the outer bearing?
rylee144 Posted December 29, 2020 Author Posted December 29, 2020 Mine is the 4wd option now, kind of. But well done sir! You are correct I am missing a washer.
rylee144 Posted January 15, 2021 Author Posted January 15, 2021 Guy told me a Peugeot 5 speed cross member will support an ax15 transmission if you flip it around. Is that true?
87MJTIM Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 Th AX15 has a drop in the middle. The BA10 goes straight across
rylee144 Posted January 16, 2021 Author Posted January 16, 2021 I thought that too but the dude insisted. Lol
rylee144 Posted January 16, 2021 Author Posted January 16, 2021 Could a guy get a shorter trans mount to make an auto cross member work
