Muncher Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 So my gauges aren't working and right blinker solid when lights are on. The only gauge that works is the rpms. How would I fix this?
jdog Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 have you done cruisers tips? the solid turn signal is a bad ground, most likely in the front end. when you say gsuges don't work, which gauges? which cluster? have you check the fuse? hows the fuse box?
ghetdjc320 Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Check each one of you indicator lights and sockets. 90% of the time that’s where the problem is

All the gauges except the rpm don't work
jdog Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 which style? blue face or grey? could be bad senders, could be bad connections at c101, bulkhead, sensor or even the cluster. checked the fuse yet?

C101 should be good because I cleaned it out good as something to see if it would make the truck run before it did
Muncher Posted October 6, 2020 Author Posted October 6, 2020 So I cleaned my ground for my gauges like someone said to do to try to fix them not working. Once I did that and started it they all moved a little bit but still only the rpm gauge worked. What else should I try?
jdog Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Unplug and check the connector on the back of the cluster, it looks like a bad connection or a bad sender for the oil

eaglescout526 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Sure. Brass wire brush to the cluster connector if they are corroded. Also wouldn’t hurt to the give the engine a bath if there’s some resistance going on.
ghetdjc320 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Have you checked your bulbs and sockets? Seriously, try it...

I'll have to try to clean the connection tommrow

Check the bulbs very carefully and replace if in any doubt. Use dialectic grease when installing also. I had a tail light bulb go out and cause the blinker to stay lit every time the lights where on. The filament in the bulb was shorting from the parking light to the turn/brake signal side.

eaglescout526 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 The ground tip in the front sockets if still the original plastic ones will be rusted or possibly not there at all. It is advised to upgrade to the newer XJ style sockets for longevity and better contact.
