Pete M
can't find my little socket set so I went back with zero glimmer of hope that I may have left it in a Jeep and someone turned it in, but also wanting those Ram rims after I saw one sell for 200 bucks on ebay. never found the sockets and only one of the rims was nice, but I did luck out on 2 beat up XJs so I got a 97 header, 90 cluster, skyjack coils and lower arms, KJ hooks, and an AX-15 crossmember and shifter (it was 2wd and I didn't have my E-12 socket so I left the rest). so no bueno on the sockets, but overall a good day. Pete M
deal of the day, I skimmed through the receipt and it appears she rang up my header panel as a "headlamp bezel" for a price of $6.60.

I can't even begin to count how many $3 "small brackets" I've bought because the clerk had no idea what the part was and didn't bother asking. I used to rattle off the name of each part as I put it on the counter, but I learned to keep quiet real quick
silvertwinkiehobo
I got lucky, left a full socket set in a Grand Marquis when Joe and I pulled a ton of interior parts for his wife's Colony Park, and went back the next day for Jeep parts; it was actually there! I've had my tools stolen as well as left them, with no recovery, so getting them back unseen brought me relief.

The set I pulled eons ago are still sitting on my workbench, all painted up and pretty looking. I'm taking a vacation (stay-cation) next week from work, they are on the list of crap I want to get done. Along with re-epoxying my garage floor, re-staining my deck, powerwashing the house, and painting all the wooden trim on the porch and around the garage door. I'll be lucky if I get 2 of those things actually done, lol.

How long does epoxy last and do you have any words of wisdom? or semi-wisdom?

mjeff87
I used a consumer grade kit from the big box store and its held up fairly well. One thing I didn't do (but will be doing this time around) is to put a top/clear coat on it. I didn't, and the product has faded over time. But, adhesion-wise, it's stuck on 100%. Of course, I had brand new concrete to work with at the time (we had the house built, closed on a Monday but didn't move in until the weekend so I rolled it on and it sat for 4 days untouched to cure). All I did was acid etch the surface and let it dry very good. The biggest pain about coating the floor is all of the prep you need to do to the floor to make sure you don't botch the job....the actual rolling on part is quick and simple. This first coat is 11 years old now, FWIW. One other tip, if you broadcast flakes onto it, don't try to "direct" where the flakes go. Just toss a hand or cup full of flakes straight up in the air over the area and let the flakes go where they want to. You get a much more even coverage that way. For my recoating job, I have to rough sand the surface, then sweep and wipe down with denatured alcohol. I'm not planning to remove the first coating, because it's adhered so well already. Just need to give the surface texture for the new coating to adhere to.
mjeff87
Well, vacation is nearing the end. I did manage to get most of my project list done though. Despite the wasp attack on my hand, I got the garage door header and casing painted, all of the front porch, side door and back door trim painted, the deck power washed and restrained (mostly, still working on that). One of the front porch posts had a bit of rot at the bottom so I had to cut that out and scab a new piece of lumber in, then putty/sand/blend it in before painting. I also farmed out the house power washing to a guy I've used before. He'll be here on the 20th and I will happily give him $125 to wash the whole house plus the shed out back I did manage to get the tow hooks installed on the KJ too. That whole job is unnecessarily complicated, involving removing the entire front clip. There's no reason it should be THAT difficult....
