rylee144 Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 I need a AX15 and transfer case out of a cherokee or comanche if anyone in WA has one.

ghetdjc320 Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 That’s a ridiculous price! New ones can be had for quite a bit less
Oizarod115 Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 i would rather sell my old truck whole but have been considering parting it out. How much do you want to pay? I'm in Santa Cruz have a 95 (external slave) AX15 from cherokee and mated to a 99 np231 both functional, 1st gear synchro is pretty lame but the rest is good.
rylee144 Posted June 11, 2020 Author Posted June 11, 2020 Well shipping is going to kill me. There is a member driving from cali maybe it's close enough to have him drive it up. I don't know what they are worth or what it takes to fix the first gear. For the t case and tranny and front drive shaft if I could get it maybe 5-600. Is that in the ball park?
rylee144 Posted June 20, 2020 Author Posted June 20, 2020 Thoughts from the pros would be great. Have a couple options. don't want to spend s ton of money and least amount of mods due to my skill level would be great. I'll be calling for rebuild quotes shortly.
silvertwinkiehobo Posted June 23, 2020 Posted June 23, 2020 Stay away from the NV. Too few model years produced. There's several U-Pull yards around Western WA and Portland, from Arlington all the way down I-5. I'm sure your chances for the right trans, t-case, drivelines, shifters, etc, will be found at one or more of them. Only problem? You gotta pull it yourself.
rylee144 Posted June 23, 2020 Author Posted June 23, 2020 Thanks. I ended up finding an ax15. I am picking it up on Wednesday on widbey island
rylee144 Posted June 26, 2020 Author Posted June 26, 2020 I went and picked it up came with the shifter and bolts. Only numbers I can find on it. I count 23 splines on the output shaft.
Oizarod115 Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 Hey Rylee, just a heads up, that looks like a TJ ax15 based on the t-case clocking, I used one of those shortly and it puts the transfer case right up agaisnt the floor, you may have to "massage" the floor a little bit to get some clearance. You can re-drill the pattern down at the normal XJ/MJ clocking but using it as-is will gain you some ground clearance if it fits. https://www.ironrockoffroad.com/product/transfer-case-clocking-drill-jig.html see the first images in this article of where the pattern is on an XJ vs what you're showing here
rylee144 Posted June 26, 2020 Author Posted June 26, 2020 Thanks for the info! I may go the big hammer route lol
