tprman
I am wanting to install a after market temperature gauge on my 88 MJ 4.0. I have noticed the factory temperature gauge hole on the back of the engine is to small to screw in the new gauge sensor. Where is a good place to mount the sensor on the engine. I would like to use the same hole as the old sensor on the back of the engine but I have not yet found a after market senor that will work.. any suggestions that might work . Thanks. tprman
I thought about that. But I’d have to buy a new thermostat housing . Mine does not have a place for Temp gauge.

My Speehut sensor fits in the back of the head. What gauge/sensor are you trying to use?

DirtyComanche
The factory put the sending unit there for a reason. It's the hottest part of the engine.

That won't tell you if you're overheating from a stuck tstat. Actually, it will only tell you if things have gone nuclear hot and the cooling system is completely saturated.
