Kalal92
Everything is the same as my old 86 Comanche block, the 90 Cherokee 2.5 oil filter threads are to small and the oil filter is too big too small to fit on but both will fit on the 1986 2.5 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pete M
so you've replaced the block from the junkyard and they are saying it's from a 90 XJ, yes? I guess it's possible that the previous owner of that XJ replaced the block at some point. what are the casting numbers in the block? can you simply remove the threaded bit and replace with your old part? DirtyComanche
Why not swap the thread adapter? Or try a standard thread oil filter (should be 91+).

Older oil filters are 20mm thread and 91 and later are 3/4" threads.

Pete M
you might have to be a bit patient this particular weekend. i've never torn a 2.5 down that far so I'm of no great use.
