nick6053
Hello all, I have a 87 metric ton with a 4.o. I am trying to get this back on the road for my son to drive. recently we did a tune up. plugs, wires, cap n rotor. moved the jeep over to the side yard for a couple months... ran fine. Went to get it pulled back out front and would not start. I'm getting fuel, and no spark... will not fire on ether. cleaned the connector at the firewall. and separated the coil from the other part and cleaned the contacts. any help is appreciated. IronManche87
I just had the same issue and it was my crank sensor which I had just replaced a couple month's before. Pop the connector on the crank sensor and measure voltage across I think A and B it should be .5v mine measured .2v and when I plugged it back in I got a few more runs out of her lol ran downtown got a new sensor, stopped for dinner, AND made it home and then replaced it and has been fine since. I would at least test it if your cables are tight grounds are good and still not getting spark.Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

Ωhm
Yes, check CPS. Voltage measurement is taken using the AC scale of your DVM. Check Cruiser's Tip on checking and moving CPS closer for better action. RENIX CPS TESTING AND ADJUSTING

cruiser54
Think about modifying the upper mounting hole in the new CPS. Also, tweak the connector pins where the CPS plugs in.

Sprinkle some methamphetamine in the connector. Not really!!!!! You will see when you take the connectors apart there is a pin on one side and some round receptacles on the other side. Using a pocket screwdriver or something like that, tweak the round receptacles a bit so they're no longer round. That way you know there's gonna be a tight connection between them and the pins of the other connector. Also, you guys need to be aware of this product: https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-D5S-6-DeoxIT-Contact-Cleaner/dp/B00006LVEU

And thank goodness that DeoxIT is cheaper than my next hit of Meth that I now know i do not have to waste on my CPS connector.
