Woody
Aloha to all, got some time on the computer so I came here instead of e-mailing the wife....We need to add that to the list of how to know if you are a jeep junkie.... #26. If you are out of the country in a combat zone and you check the jeep tech site instead of e-mailing your wife. Anyways... When I did my bucket swap, I also grabbed the female end of the seat belt. They are usally just a little longer and have a hard plastic cover to keep them easily accessable instead of draping under the seat. Just a thought and one of those little things that makes it a little nicer
jftimbo
This may be a question without any real good answers, but I figure Ill go ahead and ask it anyway. Any advice on FINDING seats from a 2 door? Every junkyard Ive called has plenty of 4 doors to go around, but 2 doors seem to come alone pretty rarely. I was happy yesterday when I called a local yard and they said they had a couple 2 doors in, only to find that tey were lying and there wasnt a single one. Any advice would be helpful, as I am really hoping to do this swap before I redo my stereo system, on account of Id like to know how much room I will have to deal with. Thanks in advance, Tim
mjeff87
Had to look at a map to see where Forest was LOL. There's 2 yards over here in the Richmond area that gets 2 doors in from time to time (the place where I got my XJ buckets). If you want to take a mini roadtrip some day I'll meet you and show you around. In fact, I'm meeting a guy from KY this weekend who wants to go there, if you're free. What color are you looking for? I can keep an eye out for a set for you if you can't make it over. Jeff
jftimbo
Thanks a lot for the invitation this weekend, unluckily I am too busy to have the time for a road trip. I am looking for seats a lot like the ones that cwlongshot recently put in his comanche. If you would look at what they have I would greatly appreciate it. Just let me know before this weekend if you are definetely going, and Ill keep in touch about it. Again, Thank you, Tim
pingpong
I am here to tell you to go buy some nice aftermarket seats. Lot easier to adapt, and they are more comfortable. Check out PRPseats.com Patrick
DirtyComanche
Ditto on the aftermarket ones. Summit universal seat brackets, and some comfy mastercraft seats and life is dandy. But I never follow my own advice. I've got a 2dr seat on the drivers side, it's offset towards the center for some reason (it's on the MJ bench brackets) and I think I'm going to build all new brackets for it as it's all f'd and really not comfortable. I mean, I found it uncomfortable sitting in it putting the dash back together, I haven't even driven it. I put it in to replace a 4dr cherokee seat (passanger seat is still that) that somebody had busted and welded back together at a funny angle. Maybe I'll jsut go to pick'n'pull and get another seat. But I like the folkd foreward thing. It was inconvenient unbolting the seats to put things behind them.

Those are from an early Laredo or Limited. Probably Laredo, as I think all the Limited steats were leather.
CWLONGSHOT
Eagle, You would likely know better than I, but I was told that they where sport from a 2door XJ. :? :? I was recently told, that the basic difference is that the 2dr will fold forward, allowing access to the rear. The "rock" feature was an option on some seats in either 2 OR 4 door models. jftimbo
Quick question for anyone with these seats, I meant to ask this earlier but forgot. How far forward will the seats lean? I went to one local yard and looked at the only seats they had, but they only leaned forward about 6 inches, and it seemed to me like that was just the personal adjustment, not even enough to get into the back seats. Is there anything special that I was too stupid to figure out that would make them lean forward all the way, or were these seats probably not original? Thanks in advance, Tim
pingpong
Thats about right. The seats are not designed to fold forward to allow access behind the seat. you might want to look at another style of seat if that is what you are looking for.
kidkusu
Hey guys, just spent a couple of bucks on some bucketts from a 99 cherokee, and was wandering what the best way to mount them up in my MJ was. I take it buy this thread if the bracketts don't fit, i need to get some MJ bucket bracketts?? Anyone got some for sale if that is the case. will the MJ bench brackets not work to well?? pingpong
The problem with the MJ brackets from the bench seat is they put the seat to high up. I guess you could cut a section of it ou and remount them that way. I chose to go with aftermarket seats and custom brackets for the ease of use factor. Pete M
Just for some clarification, when everyone says "brackets", do they mean the adapters between the floor brackets and the seat, or the entire sub-seat unit? Jeep on! --Pete
Eagle
Just for some clarification, when everyone says "brackets", do they mean the adapters between the floor brackets and the seat, or the entire sub-seat unit?Jeep on! Good question. That's why I refer to the lowest section, the part that bolts to the floor pan, as the "pedestal." It's what the seat sits on top of. CW, as far as I know the rockers were never an "option." They were included with the seats on the early year XJs, and Chrysler eliminated them to save money (naturally). My '88 XJ is a Pioneer, which is only one step up from the base model, and it has the rockers. The side bolsters on my Pioneer seats are nowhere near as full or wide as the ones on those seats you got. Check out some XJ Sports and I think you'll find that the seats don't look like yours. Yours are from about an 87 - 90 Laredo, I think. Do they have the rocking chair feature? (Of course, if someone else converted them to the MJ, whoever did it might have removed the rocking chair hardware.)
CWLONGSHOT
Yea, Mine rock, slide as well as recline and fold forward. like you said, i got them mounted to MJ bracketry, so I have NO IDEA what they actually came out of. I was just repeating what the guy I bought them from told me. I'll take your word over his. :) :D CW
