shelbyluvv
Well... I traded the CJ5 off for this truck. My wife has been saying how cool old trucks look. Well the timing was right and we traded straight across. It has a Chevy 327 and a TH350. It is full of 80s goodness and even has a 8 track player! Pete M
love that custom seat cover. I'm sure you're going to miss the CJ, but this looks like a great project too.
shelbyluvv
Very cool Bo-man. Love it! Running and driving? Not running, supposed to be a fresh rebuilt 327. I have plans to swap a 2000ish Explorer chassis under it.

shelbyluvv
It had a bad ignition switch, neutral safety switch, three broken wires to the dizzy and three cut wires under the dash. But I got it to fire. Next is to make sure the fuel system is clean and hook up the tank and drive it!
shelbyluvv
I messed around and found all the wires under the Unilite cap cut, NSS was bad, electric fuel pump was siezed and numerous wires under the dash were cut. I got it to run off gas down the carb but the POS Edlebrock/Carter carb was shot. I threw it in the trash and put a freshly rebuilt Holley 600 on it. I paid $50 for the carb from a old hot rodder down the road. He assured me that the carb was right. For $50 I took a chance on it. This is the very first fire with the new carb in place. The little 327 SBC is an absolute beast! Anything about 1/4 throttle and it is melting the rear hides. Yesterday was my wife's birthday and seeing her face light up when she heard it running made all the late nights worth all the aggravation getting it running. HOrnbrod
Great to hear it running Bo. Can't beat those Holley double pumpers. One thing I learned the hard way years ago about them is to NEVER pull the fuel bowl site plugs to check the level on a hot running engine. Fire will occur. Wasn't funny at the time; made me feel very stupid..........

It will take some time but it should be on the road in about a month.
shelbyluvv
Well... Sigh... Tweaker boy I got the truck from told me how meticulous he was about wiring. Once I got into the rats nest under the dash I knew what had to be done. I had to rip it all out and start fresh. He actually used a extension cord and wire nuts to fix the headlights. Just because Stephanie is a fire department dispatcher doesn't make her a fireman! I ripped out everything that looked sketchy and left just enough wires for it to start and run. shelbyluvv
I went seat shopping and found some beautiful Audi A4 heated seats. Once I got into the interior I realized how bad the column was installed. The gas pedal is in the wrong location and the brake pedal is way to high. I removed the column and sat the seat in the truck where Steph would be most comfortable. Once everything was locked down I started making my shopping list. So far we need a new shifter, brake pedal mount, gas pedal and steering column. The bed comes off next week to install the fuel system.
shelbyluvv
I finally tore the bed off to install the 1970 Mustang tank between the rear rails. I had to remove two factory cross members and trim the lower rails to make it fit. I then put the stock cross members back in and made a strap that goes over the top of the tank. I'm waiting on my rubber welting to come in to bolt it all in. While looking at the rear pinion angle I realized it was too high and so was the rear of the truck??? A few minutes with the grinder and I had the shackle hanger flipped and a 1" drop was accomplished. That leaf pack was awful stiff and rode like hell. My 10 leaf pack quickly became a 5 leaf pack. I removed all the rust, painted and greased all the leafs before re-installing the leafs. We threw the bed back on and took a peak. Henry looked SWEET! but the front was a tad to high. So out came the front leaf packs and they were taken down to from 8 leafs to 4. That's how a 40's truck is supposed to look!!! We couldn't be happier with the stance. we accomplished a 2/4 drop for the cost of new ubolts and plates. A whopping $60! Stay tuned. There will be more to come real soon. shelbyluvv
I finally got my custom wheel spacers in. I crossed my fingers and hoped I measured right.I did. The 20x10 Foose wheels fit perfectly. I have a 1/2" between the wheels and the sheet metal. With that sorted I ordered my tires. I'm hoping it will be driveable by late March. HOrnbrod
When you finish the mechanical and body and are ready for paint, that old Ford would look great au naturel; just sanded down with satin coat.

You and I have very similar tastes. This is the look we are planning on. Only difference will be wood bed rails.

shelbyluvv
Any updates on Henry? The new truck doesn't have a bed liner. Me being the chick that I am and not wanting to scratch the bed I needed a work truck. I shipped the MJ back to Georgia so that left only one option.I used the old man to clean up the yard. Right now it is in a holding pattern until we move back to Georgia and get settled. I don't want to put new tires on it to just sit and rot.
