Jkellahan92
Long story short, I would like to have my rear axle geared in 4.10 and don’t have a whole lot experience with fab work. So here’s my question, how difficult would it be to find an MJ Dana 35 that already has 4.10 gears?

Jeep Driver
Where are you at?
Pete M
yup. not all came with 4.10s car-part.com be sure to search for various years since part numbers changed now and again but all years will work. XJ cherokee axles are also good. just buy perches and have them welded on at your local muffler place.

Jeep Driver
I just looked around, didn't find anything. Keep an eye on Charlotte CL. Lots of XJs in and around your area.
Jeep Driver
Right now there is a 86 XJ with the 2.5 5sp in the Charlotte Pull a Part. Don't run there.........the rear axle is gone by now. You'll have to search in every crack and cranny to find what you want and when you find it you'll have to run to get it. When I set out to find something I will search the net for hours per day and I've ran to other states many many times to get what I want........just work at it. It may take months. Or, you can pick up a cheap 8.25 for $100 and build it over time, when you can, when you can afford it. You are new to this, be patient.

Jkellahan92
Also I guess I could get an 8.8 and build it over time instead of putting money into the Dana

It should be easy to find an 8.8 with 4.10 gears and a limited slip differential. No re-gearing or "building" necessary. Just add a set of spring perches and a pair of wheel spacers (the 8.8 is narrower than the XJ/MJ axles) and bolt it in.
