ComancheCrusher9800
I have a 2.5l 1987 jeep Comanche long wheel base. When I start it it will run fine. It doesn't have a certain pattern to it but it will start bucking at low speeds and sometimes stalls and makes it look like I can't drive a standard. At high speeds when I press the gas down it will loose rpms and have less power. When I turn it off and press the gas a couple of times then turn it back on it will usually do good for a couple more miles. At first my problen was the plug wires popping off so I replaced the spark plugs and wires. I replaced the coil pack also. The distributer cap it not cracked. Sometimes it will drive for miles and be fine and sometimes it will be right away. I've already tried looking for this on this forum but I can't find anything that helps
omega_rugal
check TPS, MAP... your problem is the fuel system, leave the ignition alone
ComancheCrusher9800
Has a new map sensor and the problem was the ignition at first I can tell you straight up it was because you could see spark coming from the coil to a ground and the plug wires were popping off
omega_rugal
losing power when pressing the gas pedal has nothing to do with the ignition, you are giving it air but not enough fuel, the ecu uses the throttle position + manifold pressure and to some degree the coolant and air temp to calculate how much fuel to deliver in that particular condition unless it`s some weird domino effect caused by several failing sensors, i would start there, TPS and MAP... cruiser54
Is the ground strap from the firewall to the head intact? If so, still remove it at the firewall and scrape to bare metal and reinstall.
ComancheCrusher9800
So I replaced the throttle position sensor and it fixed it completely for a few days and now it started again. It doesn't do it as badly but it still will do it after about 10 minutes of driving. What now?

ComancheCrusher9800
And I did your c101 elimination this morning I couldn't find the ground slice coming from the map sensor though only the one from the tps and I didn't want to cut too much more tape off the wiring

fiatslug87
Have you checked the EGR system? I'm assuming a 2.5L in '87 has it.
Eagle
Comanchecrusher has a new thread going, on carburetors, so this thread is closed. Otherwise we'll all be talking in circles.
