Is anyone running the oem exhaust pipe on their 6 cylinder. I bought a new stainless steel exhaust manifold and when I was installing it on the new motor I saw that the flange on the pipe looks crushed. So I was wondering if anyone could snap a picture of their pipe so I could see if mine is crushed or if it's made that way from the factory

That's correct. A lot of people complain about it, but the OEM downpipe has a flat spot in it.

Well now I'm getting what seems to be a slight backfire every now and then... I'm wondering if it has to do with the new header having better air flow which might be creating back pressure? 91dc64ba86cbef7b71bae934aa5873f0.jpg

Just went outside and snapped a couple pic's this is what mine looks like 5660a30c5f2e436c3fdeab14645f65a5.jpg5a79fd07beebd5cf902040c51e4de081.jpg it's hard to tell I know but it's dark...

But the "crushed" part is right below the flange

If I remember correctly, Cruser54 has posted the "restriction" is there for emission reasons on the Renix era Comanche.  Think it is to warm things up a bit quicker.

My Renix never had crush, I actually kept that section of the exhaust when I pulled the stock system.

All the HO's I have seen had the crush at the flange.
