895XJ
Welp, the BA10 bit the dust. I'm going to try to cover most of the swap. There are other write ups out there that I'm sure would do a better job of covering this but I'm going to try to show everything from my "fairly inexperienced" position. I hope this will be just what someone is looking for to help them get their swap done. A swap is my only option as I AM NOT replacing the poo goat tranny. Since this is my first write up, it's a learning curve. I'm going to try to break it up into sections. You picked a fine time to leave me first gear. Driving to school on 1-13-17, I let the clutch out in first, got going and three clunks and a thud later I added myself a second neutral position. So I pulled over, gave it the seventeen second inspection, crossed the toes and kept driving. It sounds like a box of rocks getting beat around by a 200 pound gorilla but it still drives. 140 miles later it's still driving but just how long is unknown. (Picture of crippled jeep added for artistic flare) Sourcing a donor. I'm either going to go with an AX15 or a NV3550, whichever pops up first is what I'm going with. The odds of an NV3550 showing up in the middle of NoDak is slim, so AX15 it will be. I am requiring myself to avoid internal slave as I am trying to avoid issues, not cause more. I'm trying to source a complete parts jeep for $400 or less as to keep my total swap budget under $750. I will update when a donor is found, and go from there.
MeanLemons
If you are feeling a bit adventurous, you could try and find a NSG370
895XJ
If money was no object, yes, and a 241. But alas I'm on a budget of $750 just trying to get the daily going again.
desbennett004
I'm in the midst of the same swap. I forgot to grab the master/slave cylinder assembly from the guy I bought my Trans from, now I have to find a used one or shell out almost $300 CAD to get a new one. 895XJ
Going to pull the motor and trans from the donor jeep today, I've spent the last four days carefully unhook stuff as to save the harness for a future swap possibly? FedEx should get the parts to me by Monday or Tuesday and I will update with a step by step guide and lots of pictures on the actually conversion. 895XJ
So you're going to want ago ahead and undo your rear driveshaft strap bolts, there's for of them then slide the rear driveshaft off. Make sure you drain the transfer case first Undo the transfer case skid if equipped then remove the 6 cross member bolts leaving the two studs in Remove the four strap bolts on the front axles and four bolts on the t case front yoke and then remove the front driveshaft Undo the speedometer, vacuum switch and reverse light wires Undo your exhaust, I don't have pictures since I'm cutting mine off and redoing it all. Remove the two starter and one bellhousing bolt near the starter Remove the four transmission mount bolts Undo the transfer case linkage from the t case and body Lower the assembly with a jack and get a long extension and under the top engine star bolts Remove the four lower bellhousing bolts. I'll call this a wrap for day one Sent from my XT1635-02 using Tapatalk

SBpunk
Sweet the more pics the better! Going to be swapping out my 92 AX15 soon since chunks of metal are coming out when I change the oil and might as well go external slave.

Here's the parts list Dorman pilot bushing, number is stamped on it Flywheel for your year Jeep Clutch for the year of transmission Boot since mine was destroyed. Sent from my XT1635-02 using Tapatalk I just received my Dorman pilot bushing today to do my swap, same part number on the box, but not stamped on the bushing itself. Got them from amazon, they sent me a box of 5 for some reason. Look forward to seeing your progress, I have to do this in the next couple weeks. 895XJ
You're going to need to cut down to 3/4. Part number 690-042 is 7/8" long and will not fit in the renix crank! SBpunk
Same here. Soon as my motor rebuild is done I'm going to start looking at my AX15. No one here will rebuild them so going to be grabbing a fresh one off eBay most likely. Would like to convert it to external slave but clueless. Ive dropped an AW4 before but never messed with the AX15's.
