Hello everyone,

My name is Nathan, though I can be found various places around the net as Ataki. I started looking for a good Cherokee shell to replace my 96 XJ, that has rusted through pretty much every floorboard, and a few places on the subframe. I found this 88 Comanche on craigslist, and picked it up for what I think is a decent price.

It's a 2.5 4speed, 2wd. It looks rough, but it just really needs a good cleaning and some TLC. The floorpans are excellent, and the interior is pretty nice for the most part. It hasn't seen maintenance in probably 10 years. The steering has roughly 135 degrees of play, the engine barely runs, made for an interesting trip home across DFW at rush hour, lol. The engine just needs a good going over to get up to par, Until I swap thing over from my trusty, rusty, 310k mile Cherokee.

Anyways, Thanks for having me here, and I look forward to talking with everyone!

Welcome, sounds like you had the same idea as me. I found an 89 MJ to replace my trusty rusty 99XJ, and am currently in the process. Look forward to seeing your progress!

Thanks, It's going to be a fun build. I'll have to start a thread soon!

Welcome Nathan,

Your truck body looks to be in decent shape with original paint?  Your Cherokee front bumper should transfer right over to the MJ with no trouble.  That little 4 banger should be nice for a daily driver.

It is for the most part, there's quite a few rusty scratches, and a few minor dents. You can even still make out where the "Sporttruck" decals used to be. Hopefully I can get the 4 banger up to spec, It sounded pretty bad on the way home.

Welcome to the Addiction, er, I mean the Forum!

Thanks! We do have a Comanche support group here, right?  :rotf:

So just where is the rust on that XJ of yours? Looks pretty clean from the pic! Welcome!

Thanks! Yeah, it looks great from up top. The rust is all through the floorpans and wheelwells, especially through the rear. Also along the top surface of the subframe.
