Kenosha Warrior
ok, today I went out to the mj, stuck the key in the ign and turned it to 'run' I cranked it and all I got was the starter solenoid click. soon as I rolled the key back to the 'lock' position to take it out. My intrument panel lights light up. I hear a relay click, the instrument panel lights light up, click again, they go off. this will happen 3 or 4 times or until I unhook the battery. I'm a good hour away from my warranty card for my crappy-tire battery. Wtf is going on. Last time this happened, I left the battery unhooked for about 15-20 mins, after I put it back on, I heard a relay go 'click, click' then the jeep started. its been unhooked for the last little while and I get the same results. Its almost as if my battery is fubar'ed.
DirtyComanche
You've probably got some parasitic loss... Or the battery is a pile. Which it is.
Pete M
I would thoroughly clean up the connection surfaces at both ends of the battery cables.

Kenosha Warrior
Its a little more sinister than that. Instrument panel lights, park lights. They turn on when this relay does it clicky thing. I yanked those fuses and the park lights STILL turn on when this relay clicks! the inst panel lights don't turn on. W.T.F is up. Is my headlight switch gone bad? CWLONGSHOT
Could very well be. One thing is for sure...you have some crossed/shorted wires there!! Start with the suggestions. Clean the batt connections and eliminate that as any lind of problem. Keep them CLEAN & TITE!! CW
MWinland
Mine had the same symptoms. It turned out to be a short at the bottom of the steering column.
carnuck
Bad ground on the block is causing a feedback through all the lights to try to turn the motor over.
