My Comanche was stolen

whenever I'm in a "questionable" area, I pull the fuel pump relay. The only way for someone to get it is to have another relay (most people don't want to troubleshoot a no start issue), or tow it. I also have an alarm and keep the doors unlocked, the alarm goes off when the door is opened.

Good idea, for the record I don't consider my neighborhood as "questionable" or sketchy, but it is near one of the LRT (light rail transit) stations in town, as such people from "questionable" areas tend to pass through it.

Glad you have a replacement lined up.  First mods - all of the anti-theft ideas mentioned in this thread lol.

New MJ is garaged & while it wasn't, I had the battery & steering wheel pulled, haven't applied "all of the anti-theft ideas" just yet.

I just replaced the drive on my PC so I have no pics to post right now, I kind of forgot I was going to do that, so I will post up some later (I won't forget this time).

P.S. As far as I know, nobody was ever caught, they may have been but I've never been notified. But I am over being pissed off about it - too much wasted energy on anger.

Another interesting anti-theft device is the Grant steering wheel anti-theft dealio.

https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/grt-2001/overview/

Basically allows you to remove the steering wheel in a quick disconnect manner, but it requires a key, and there is a blanking cap that goes on in place of the wheel so you can't turn the shaft with a pair of vicegrips or the like.

Some gangster type shows the install here, about 7 minutes in he shows how it works:

Not the cheapest option between buying it and a Grant wheel, but it will leave the vehicle completely undriveable.  Also, unlike a normal quick disconnect wheel, you don't need to take the wheel with you as you can't put it back on without the key.

I was in a similar neighborhood, not questionable per say, but near a light rail station and a walmart. Any time it got parked outside, it got a couple things done to it so it wouldn't budge without me "fixing" it...parking brake, 4-lo...it wouldn't go onto a tow truck without a fight.

the ballast resistor has been my go-to suggestion for years now.  the theory of course being that if the truck starts but stalls, they might assume it was just a pos truck.  might be enough to get the amateurs.  I now add in a second idea of a fake killswitch under the dash, but not too hidden.  let the thief find something if they are looking.   it just doesn't do anything.

or better yet, make it trigger an alarm!
