Dome lights non-functional.

Recommended Posts

My dome lights have never worked in my MJ. I've replaced the bulbs and checked my fuse. I know the fuse block is getting power at the dome circuit. I can't recall if I plugged them back in after replacing the rear speakers, but they did not work prior to that either. I need to know if both bulbs need to be in and how to check my door switches. I also have 2 dc led strips i can replace the bulbs with once the circuit is functional. These are VERY bright when hooked up to direct battery power. I'd really love to have dome lights and if possible, led dome lights.

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike.

Are you referring to the B pillar lights? The light fixtures are known for corroding and crumbling (old plastic). Euramtec sells a quality replacement, certain Porsche 911 interior lights will fit as well.

As for me, I didn't have interior lighting for 14 months. That was, until I found out I had the dimmer switched turned off. You may want to check your dimmer switch as an easy fix.

I was messing with them at work yesterday and found out they turn on when rotated. But I took it a step further, got myself replacement led bulbs and wired in led strips to go along with them. It is seriously bright at night. Pics to come.

My driverside door switch seems to stop working at least once a year, usually mid winter. A quick cleaning of the door switch gets them working again. Guessing I have a leak down the a-pillar through the windshield. That's on this summers list of crap to deal with.

I also replaced mine with erratic housings, and led bulbs. Going to add another XJ dome light in the middle rear as well with LED's and some led courtesy lights. I hate trying to find stuff with dim interior lights. And courtesy lighting means not having to mouth a flashlight while fixing the ebrake again.
