Rohls
I want to re-lift my MJ as I currently have a cheapy AAL ~2" lift that has been sucking since day 2...grrrr. My MJ is my daily driver and I can't really afford it to be hanging around my non-existant garage...yeah. I've been eyeing the 5" and 6" RRO lift because it's seemingly all incompassing...and that's the biggest attraction; just pull the trigger and wait for package to arrive and bolt it on over some beers/friends/weekend. I would not mind piecing together a lift if I had a solid list to work from...I love my MJ, but again can't afford to be missing a piece when my truck is broken apart for the weekend. And it doesn't seem to matter how many posts I read, I still can't find a solid list that has the total quality items I'd like....OME springs, ajustable track arm (JKS?), proper control arms, do I need a drop pitman arm?, etc.... Thoughts?

I had the same problems, but then I found this: http://comancheclub.com/topic/35519-55-600-mj-lift-cheap-high-quality-100-complete-lift-please-read-note/ I installed all of it last weekend and it drives perfect but now looks dope. A lot of the parts are cheaper in Amazon
Rohls
what size tires? what are you doing for gearing? Ideally i'd like 33"...and realize I need to regear then. I'm not sure the best route. An axle swap seems a little much in my current situation. what gears do you suggest with my stock D35/30? people say it's not 'worth it', but i don't have a lot of options and do not plan on serious hardcore wheeling, just the occasional trail-to-camp recon. Thanks.
Pete M
do NOT regear a dana 35. throw it away and invest in an axle that will last. just so ya know, regearing can easily cost 500 per axle. keep in mind that you're looking at doing a lot of work to a vehicle that you use every day. reliability and drive-ability are your friends much more than trail toughness. Thanks, yeah, I know I wouldn't want to regear the D35. My issue is that it's perfectly fine in there now, and has served me fine for the 85k miles it's been in there...so why mess with a good thing, right? Do I really want to pick up a D44 (or another 'better rear end') from a JY and cross my fingers that one is gonna last me...?

It sorta leads me down another rabbit hole because it is not current anymore... :dunno: Could I bother you to post your list of parts? . :MJ 1: . . :MJ 1: . xjrev10
HO 4.0 with a 5-speed and 33s? You'll be just fine. Rocky Road hasn't got the best reviews, along with Rustys. I'd look into Hell Creek Suspensions.
Pete M
my dana 35 worked fine too... right up to the day it blew teeth all over the place inside. and that was a 2wd daily driver with monstrous 30" tires. mileage matters not. they are simply not strong. explorer 8.8s are available with 4.10s and disk brakes from the factory. more beef, more gearing and more braking for the bigger tires. that's a win-win-win. car-part.com can help you find one. 75sv1
I did buy from Hells Creek years ago for my MJ. I got springs ect. for the front from a posting on a Jeep forum. Then I ordered from Hells Creek for my XJ. At least for that spring they carry RC. I was planning on using a Ford 8.8 with 4:10 and 31"s. Mines a manual. I am now going with an Isuzu Dana 44 with 4:10 or possibly 4:30. I'll probably go with 33". The Isuzu has 6 on 5.5 and rear discs, like the Ford 8.8. The stock Comanche brake cables should work on the Isuzu. I think GC brake cable would work for the Ford 8.8. I am fairly sure I bought a 4:10 Isuzu. I figured the gear spread of 3:09 (manual) vs 3:55 auto on 28" tires matches 4:10 on 33"s. vs 4:10 on 31"s for an auto.
Crash
Some Zu 44 also have 4.30 gears. I would pull the cover and confirm. Or rear the axle tag if it is there.
