Previous owners went wild with gasket maker trying to correct any oil leaks, I cleaned up the valve cover and will put a new gasket down. Also did some routine maintenance and replaced plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor button. Has a new fuel filter and windshield wipers :) also. All in all it is surprisingly clean under the valve cover (inside). No sign of build up or gunk, the main point that sold me was how well the truck ran. Starts right up and sounds smooth. Spending all this time under the hood also helped me find a few other issues, vacuum lines and some wiring that could be cleaned up. cody.quattlebaum.16 Posted November 7, 2015 Author Share Posted November 7, 2015 Yeah, it's hard to find MJ parts sometimes. Passenger motor mount new vs old. Not as bad as the driver side. Also, the intake/exhaust and oil pan gasket was delivered today. Got to working on that after the motor mounts. Looks like the rear oil pan bolts will be a pain, while under there I did notice the starter was nearly unbolted. I guess someone didn't tighten it all of the way it it loosened over time.
