Bonkers
When researching the Ba10 to Ax15 swap every one said I needed the Tcase "linkage." So, playing it safe i grabbed everything i saw between the levers and the trans housing. My linkage has been welded in so it will need to be cut out of the truck... but... looking at what i have now, it appears to be indentical to whats in the truck now. Before i do something permanent, can someone tell me EXACTLY what is meant by TC linkage, or maybe link me up to a pic or two?
Jackrabbit41
I'm at school so I can't get you any pics but my linkage for my ba10 worked in my ax15
87MJTIM
Here is my AX15 swap. Scroll to the 10th picture to see the linkage that mounts to the trans tunnel. The AX15 version is mounted; the BA10 is in my hand. http://comancheclub.com/topic/48136-my-ax15-swap/
Crash
Boostwerks.com t-case shift linkage. One and done..
Bonkers
Crash - I'm reading this website - does this linkage mount to the tunnel wall like the factory or mount directly to the transfer case? I discovered today that the wall where my bracket mounts no longer contains any actual metal so the PO welded the OEM linkage together to basically hard shift the tcase to engage. Also he cut all the vacuum lines so I am guessing (hoping) he did the CAD delete thing... Additional headache(s) though... the clutch pilot bearing I bought from Advance doesnt look like its going to come close to fitting. I bought the one thats supposed to come with their "AX15 Swap Kit" but it measures out to be .750x1.818x.754. According to the WILD VARIETY of forums I think I need a .754x1.057x.877 can anyone give me the exact measurements or a link? I paid $25 for this one and I am guessing its useless... Also in my research people have said I need to replace the "Front bearing retainer" and not to use the Ax15 Flywheel from Luk... I gotta say, for the mountains and mountains of information out there (for an amateur) there really isnt a whole lot of information out there... When I do the resto I think I'll do an idiots guide to this swap...

87MJTIM
What year Jeep did the AX15 come out of? The input shaft diameter changed (94?) to a larger diam. That means the ID of pilot bushing/bearing needs to be larger. There is a thread on here about which PB to get. I believe it was for 74, CJ5, 304 V8. Go to www.rockauto.com and search for the PB size for that engine.
PEEJ
I just finished my 4x4 swap mating a BA-10/5 to a NP242, Ordered Berstwerks linkage kit,Everything I've read about it is true.Quick and simple. Can't go wrong with it.
Bonkers
Thanks PEEJ - boostwerks got back to me VERY quickly (and answered my questions) so the order is in. Ill let you know. 87MJTIM - the Ax15 came out of a 98 Xj. I have the matching front axle for the future. The problem I'm encountering is that there are at least three different sizes quoted on the 74 304 bushing (the one advance sent me is CLEARLY not for the 4.0.) Ive ordered both sizes from Amazon (at $3ea so no sleep lost.) I'm still curious about the flywheel/clutch i bought from Luk and whether i need a retaining plate like mentioned on naxja... I'm really questioning this whole term "bolt-in" now... :-)

Bonkers
Ill try to find it again. Basiclly it said it was recommended because i was going to external slave. Ive literally read hundreds of forum links over the past two weeks trying to figure stuff out. I'm the kinda of person who drowns themselves in so much information i never actually finish accomplishing projects...
Bonkers
Found it... googling backwards apparently its a needed part for a bellhouse swap. The thread i originally read said it was part of the swap. One question answered... http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1034330
87MJTIM
If you have a 98 AX, than you do not need to change the bearing retainer plate. The later model AX has the correct plate all ready. The older AX (internal slave) used a shorter post bearing retainer plate. This was because the release bearing traveled less. The new AX (external slave) uses a longer post bearing retainer plate. This is because the release bearing travels further. Hope that helps.
