Hello,

I need some help finding exhaust parts. The Y-Pipe for the 2.8L appears that is no longer made, I can not find any replacement pipe. Other than having a shop build new pipe anyone have a suggestion? I plan for this motor to come out next summer so I don't want to have pay a shop $500 to build new down pipes.

Thanks James.

This is the Y pipe:

Hope they still have it in stock. If you can, learn how to use the Jeep parts manuals and search for the part you need using the factory part number (in this case 53001388). Using vehicle specs is usually tedious and inaccurate. You can find almost everything still exists somewhere if you look hard enough.

walker y pipe #40401

that is the actual part number i found one for 60$ somewhere i searched for days after patching mine for hours

I had that number, searched it but no one could get it. But I got this one coming no big deal..

$500 sounds way steep for a silly down pipe ! You try shopping around ? Also you try and see if a s10 pipe would fit , or be close enuf to make it work . Iv been wanting to buy the edelbrock tes header system but it's kinda pricy and I don't think you can get it anymore.

They are in Stock right here for 103. My local mechanic called local auto shops in a rural area in maine and could get one for 70. There are tons of places who have them online

This place actually does not have it I called them.. Also they will not ship to the US as they are based in Canada.. If you can find a vendor that has it please link me to it because I have called everyone and there friends and no one can get it...

86FUBAR $500 is crazy steep but.... Is what it is, another reason why I hate Cape Cod Ma. my contract here was up 2016 but I just got extended 4 more years...

Well I just ordered this pipe. It will e ere Tuesday.. I can't believe the OEM pipe is no longer made.. Maybe this will work.

So you ordered the edelbrock headers ? If so can't wait to see them !!

Sorry no.. I ordered the down pipe for the S10 with the 2.8L  image looks to be the same, seeing how it is the same engine it has to be close.. Think the only problem might be with the crossmember but will see.. Got the broken bolt out of the head, repaired the exhaust manifold. If the pipe fits the truck will be on the road in a week or two.

Well thanks for all the help and advice. So i picked up the down pipe today for a 1986 S-10 2.8L 4x4. With some slight modification it fits great. Had to move some wiring around, pull the starter and it slid in place. Where is comes together into one pipe is a little long I had to trim it to clear the transmission crossmember. Going to put it in the pipe bender and angle it down an inch or two then bold it in. Also the hols in the flange mount are much larger but that will be a very easy fix. $90 dollars for the down pipe is much better than having one made... Again thanks for all the help.

trimmed the bend off so it would clear the crossmember.

Flange mounting is a little different but like I said easy fix, I will weld in some washers.

This is a little 7 year bump.

I have a 86 Comanche with at 2.8L V6.  The Y-Pipe is cracked and as the previous posts suggest, there are not Y-Pipes for the Jeep 2.8L V6 to be found.  I went looking for a Y-pipe for an 86 S10 Pickup.  Most of those are also not available.  I found one at a GM parts site, PN 53001388.  They had 1.  Proud of it too.... $500 proud, and $130 four shipping.  I did find another one that is for a California application of the 86 S10 2.8L.  PN 15561892.  I found it at

https://www.gmpartscenter.net/oem-parts/gm-front-pipe-15531892

the pipe was on sale for about $75 and shipping was about $45.  That is a lot better that a old cracked y-pipe and way better that $500.

I should mention that the Walker #40401 Y-pipe that has been discontinued in the US, is still available in Canada at

https://www.thewrenchmonkey.ca/products/auto-parts/walker/40401/ for about $113 Canada.  Of course, they don't ship to USA, But if you have a buddy on the north side of the border....

Will report back later on fitment details.

Well, that did not work.  Just got an email that my order was cancelled.  GM has discontinued the part.  I am going to have to arrange something with someone north of the border.

Good Luck All
