1987 comanche first car

Recommended Posts

So today while I was sitting in AP physics I came up with the idea off build a center console out of some 16 gauge steel for my truck and put a switch panel in. I have a train horn and some lights that I already have installed and they have switches but I'm going to redo my wiring because its so messy and then put both those accessories on some toggle switches. I got some shine aluminum for the switch panel too. My injectors came today and they look great other then the fact that they look used. Dirty Jeep Guy said that he tested them, so maybe thats why. here's some pictures:

What do y'all think about these injectors?

So I put in the injectors and it's running good. I don't notice much of a throttle response increase, but we shall see about the better Mileage. I also start making me center console and switch panel.

Hard to tell but the injector holes were nasty. To clean them, I scraped out the inside with one hand and held a shop vac up to the hole with the other hand. This way the gunk wouldn't fall down into the cylinders. I then dipped quetips into gasoline and wiped out the inside. It worked really well and the insides were shinny clean.

I had a hard time getting the new ones in so i dipped them in gasoline and that made it a little easier to slide them in the fuel rail and the cylinders.

Now for my center console build. Its Saturday and I got about 1/3 of the way done. I build half of it out of cardboard first and then made the first half out of steel. I need to get the right size hole saw for the cup holders and I can't decide what the base of the cupholders should be. Like the part down.

First steel piece. I didn't get as many pics as I thought. Ill put some more on tomorrow.

More progress on the center console. Next i need to rewire my train horn and lights because I half assed the job back a few months ago when I installed them and my wiring is really messy. I also am going to build an extension that comes off and converse the 4wd shifter like the factory plastic one did. I left room for more switches in the cute like more lights and hopefully lockers next summer. Oh and maybe a winch in their too but I'm fine with the controller thing.

Another funny/random story for y'all: Up here in Bellingham, Wa there is lots of Canadians that come down from Vancouver to hang out and most of them are terrible drivers (no offense to any Canadians out there!) and when i was coming home from practicing lacrosse with my friends I saw a car on the train tracks. I didn't stop at first then i though that i could winch them off, so i turned around and hooked my strap to there rear left A Arm. It was a Toyota corolla or something so i didn't have much options. Once I started pulling with my 8k winch it came right off the tracks and onto the street. It was fun plus they paid me 50$ so i was stoked. More money for the jeep! The cop told me that this happens all the time so maybe ill get to do it again. Sadly i didn't get any pictures.

nice rig!

i remember my first car, which was a comanche, lots of time spent wrenching !

i recommend running some shielding on all your custom wires,

don't want them to ground out!

should come do some wheeling up here in canada some time! I'm on the other side of the boarder in osoyoos

I've always been a little wary about crossing the boarder with a wheeler lol

I just watched a video of your rig on some random youtube channel. pretty cool

and ya I'm planning on getting a roll of some of that insulator type plastic stuff and that'll hopefully make it look cleaner too.

So I ordered my shocks last week and for some reason I only ordered 1 rear and 1 front thinking that they came in pairs.  I don't know why I thought that. I'm just pissed cause I spent my money some other stuff so now i can't do the swap this weekend. I was all excited to finally start but i guess I'm going to have to wait even longer. If anyone wants to buy by 1 front and 1 rear, I won't complain....

So I'm in my garage waiting for my cousin to help here with her car because her car leaks coolant like a sieve, and i noticed one of the spider gears is all chewed up in the HP30. Well they didn't remember to fix them, so i gotta take it back to them tomorrow. I specifically told them to fix them. The carrier i brought them had  spider gears they were/still are all chewed up and I knew that and told them. It was obvious, they should've noticed as they are a PROFESSIONAL shop. It just pisses me off because they don't write anything down. They forgot my phone number now this. wtf...

and... they left a rivet in the diff. This thing was sizable, could've done some damage.

Ya I might need ya, just need to find the money for the last 2 shocks then i got everything.

Also, tonight I started messing around with Sketch 3d, a 3d modeling program and started build a rear bumper on it, but then discovered that I can look at other peoples projects and I found and downloaded a couple comanches. Pretty cool never done this before.

  • 2 weeks later...

Doesn't look super good, but I got this band saw for free from where I work at Imco Construction. It has a bad cooling fluid pump and it trips the breaker when under a heavy cut but other then that it's flawless. pretty stoked

Why did you use a PCV valve for the axle vent? The axle vent should be open to the atmosphere to allow internal pressures built up by hot gasses to escape. Depending on which PCV valve you have it is acting either as an incoming or outgoing check valve - not good. You should replace the PCV valve with a fitting open to the atmosphere both ways or you may have axle seal leaks down the road. Like this one or similar. Even a 1/8 NPT hose adapter fitting would be better than the PCV valve.

So I did have a PCV valve that only let stuff out but I ended up swapping it out for an open fitting and I'm just gonna run a 6ft hose up into the engine bay and make it curly q so it doesn't let water down.
