How does this main bearing look?

Recommended Posts

Hey, quick question. There's a definite possibility that my truck will be drivable again this weekend. I very much want to drive it, but I wanted to know (just at a glance) how the #7 main bearing looks.

I know that one bearing isn't a big sample size, but what conclusions can you guys draw? This is of course my '91 engine with 156k. It ran perfectly fine when parked with no bad noises of any description. I didn't notice any pits, but that scratch in the lower bearing has me worried.

Looks good, you may want to replace the rear main seal while you're at it just for extra peace of mind.

That's why he had that cap off to begin with.  I think he is just buttoning it up again.

"Oh, it'll all be apart to fix the oil pan anyway. Might as well do the RMS while I'm in there! It should only take an extra couple of hours!"
