Minuit Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Hey, quick question. There's a definite possibility that my truck will be drivable again this weekend. I very much want to drive it, but I wanted to know (just at a glance) how the #7 main bearing looks. I know that one bearing isn't a big sample size, but what conclusions can you guys draw? This is of course my '91 engine with 156k. It ran perfectly fine when parked with no bad noises of any description. I didn't notice any pits, but that scratch in the lower bearing has me worried.
Megadan Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Looks typical. Drag your finger nail across it. As long as you don't snag on any sharp grooves it's fine.
jimoshel Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 ^^^ What they said.I'd check the clearance with Plasti-guage and if it's within specs you're OK.
big66440 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Looks good, you may want to replace the rear main seal while you're at it just for extra peace of mind.

It should only take an extra couple of hours!" - Said on January 14th, 2015.
