BFG AT TAs or Goodyear duratrac?

so it's tax time and that means tires in my family, i'm in between choosing the BFGoodrich All Terrain TA K/Os and the Goodyear Duratrac. I hoping to get some feedback out of duratracs and which one ya like better and why and where ya get it at cheapest, i will be running on 235/75R15 again due to gas mileage and slight rubbing,

Of those two options I would get the BFG, primarily for the stronger sidewall.

 

I have never run a duratrac, but have wheeled with folks who do. Any rock or tree sidewall contact usually resulted in a puncture.

how hard did the hit the tree or rock? i've punctured my dad's TJ with BFG wheeling from landing sideways on a rock,

I can't say either puncture was a hard hit, but more of a wedge in a tight spot. Granted these were on a heavy JK. However, the relatively weak duratrac side wall is well documented online yet they are still a real popular tire among wheelers because of their strengths.

Neither. Cooper discover at/3's got my vote. Twice. On the tj and mj.

I agree. However that isn't an option Redwolf is looking at.

 

Find a used car lot or small tire shop who gets tires from Independent Tire Dealer. Absolute cheapest price I could find for my AT3's.

I don't have experience with either but from what I have read and people I know Duratracs are some of if not the best tires you can buy for your vehicle if you want a AT type tire.  Their on road performance is phenomenal and offroad is decent.  At least this is what I have heard.

not a big fan of coopers, everyone has always told me get coopers, get coopers, i just don't like the offroad proformance of their ATs

 

General Grabber AT/2's... Like I've said in the last few threads you made about tires.

i've thought bout em, but nobody in the area has them in stock, they're all special order, tryin to get somethin the same day

 

Duratrac if you drive more on the road. They have ridiculously better wet traction than the BFG.

that's nice to know, i've been gettin a lot of wet weather in virginia beach lately and keep slidin at a stop light when it turns green, i do drive more on the road than i do on a trail

 

I run duratracs on my z71, 60/40 gravel to highway. I've driven through our woods at work, across fields and ditches among other things. They have yet to let me down.

sweet, how well do they do in thick mud?

Goodyear is having some sidewall tread separation issues with the duratrac. I friend got 4 replaced under warranty today and an guy in our local club got five replaced in january

sidewall tread separation issues huh? what are some early sides of it cause my mom just got some on her f150 today,

I've never heard of the separation deal. Mine have been doing well for the abuse I put them through on a daily basis. Plus several jeep buddies crawl with them and have had zero issues. It could just be a bad batch type deal.

 

 

So far I've only been in deep mud once (almost frame deep) in this truck and they pulled out from a dead stop. Light mud is like its not even there.
