CJ's MJ
I recently bought a 89 Comanche and it's my first jeep I have owned. I have been trying to figure stuff out as I go. I have seen post that states xj and mj are pretty much same vehicle. My question is this I am searching for a parts car for mine, I have found a 95 xj for a decent price. Will most parts interchange from the 95? I need the windshield mostly to pass inspection. I live in an area that I know there are no other MJ's around and shipping to where I am cost more than the parts I need.
Steve Gregory
Almost everything from front doors forward on an XJ will fit the MJ.

Jeep Driver
Once you get serious you'll find that many parts from many different Jeeps will fit your MJ. From Wranglers to Grands.
big66440
Grab the brake booster and master cylinder also, the 95-96 XJ booster/MC is a GREAT upgrade to your MJ
CJ's MJ
I have plenty of work to do to mine. The previous owner(s) really have done a lot of questionable mods. An example if my headlights are on the truck keeps running even when the switch is off and keys are in hand. Only way to kill it is to turn off the headlights. First time I discovered it I had no idea how to shut it off. Lol

big66440
I would really suggest investing on the factory service manuals from Chrysler, they're still easy to come by and provide tons of useful information you can not find on any chiltons or hayne's manual you can still find them on e bay. CJ's MJ
Excellent idea that will be the next thing I get. Thank you.

Minuit
Can't agree enough. My FSM has been more useful than I can say. It does lie every once in a while but it's light years better than the Chilton I have.
dasbulliwagen
There is a downloadable 88 or 89 service manual somwhere on this site. It came in handy for me when I was wiring up my AC conversion and wiring in my power windows and locks. Welcome to the site. These trucks are addictive, enjoy! Lol Now there's an interesting mod - Sounds custom made for folks like me - My truck has the reminder thingy, but I don't know how many times over the years I've returned to other dead/low battery cars/trucks because of HLs being left on - Early morning departure-overcast/raining trips, that sort of thing - Please post if it's a device or hack job when you start debugging. :wrench:

First time I discovered it I had no idea how to shut it off. I would guess it has either had a wiring harness fried or has been sunk in water at some point. In 1983 I bought a '78 Power Wagon that had sat stuck in a pond for 2 days. I paid almost nothing for it. However if you would turn the engine off with the blinker on the engine would start when the blinker came one, run for a second, and shut off when the light when off. I never did get all of the electric gremlins out of it.
CJ's MJ
I am pretty sure it's creative wiring. The guy I bought it was telling me that he got the dash lights to work. I just noticed today that when I turn on the ignition switch my parking lights and taillights come on as well. I just need to get a free weekend to actually look at what he did to it.
