JeepsOLot
Not sure if this is fiberglass or something AMC tried for sealing purposes. Should I chip this stuff out? Image Not Found Image Not Found Jerry
hassyfoto
At this point, it appears the adhesion of this covering has failed and rust has formed on the metal floor panel under this coating. I would remove the coating as it is acting like a moisture trap and allowing the floor pan to accelerate the rust process. Clean the floor ( wire brush, etc.), treat the floor with some type of rust inhibitor and refinish.
ggcnash
It almost looks like the old diaper bags decomposed with rust dunno?
dj5
looks to me like truck maybe didn't have carpet so they put down a paper mat of some sort and the rust/moisture turned it into paper-Mache then covered with a carpet

JeepsOLot
Is this something that AMC did, or a PO? I wire brushed what I could. It was getting ready to rain, so, I just sprayed the exposed metal with rust converter, and will chip that stuff out when it stops raining this week. big66440
My floor didn't have that, and I haven't seen it on any other jeep so I would say it's safe to assume its not factory.
gw204
Looks a bit like chopped strand mat (fiberglass) and pooled resin to me.
Eagle
Not factory. Bubba.
JeepsOLot
That's what I thought, seems like some sort of resin/fiberglass. Whenever I can get back to it, I'll chip that crap out of there. Jerry
