Okay. I will look into doing that instead. Can I ask what the difference is between the two. I searched the forums but can't find a black and white answer.

The pukegoat transmission if it's good now it will eventually either blowup or it will finally die on you...

The biggest problem on these trucks are the internal slave cylinders that after a while they fail...so while the transmission is out most guys might as well swap transmissions to an external slave ax15 than having to drop the transmission in a couple of years...while you can do it from the outside of the transmission...

Also, the ax15 is a stronger trans/deeper gears in trans/ and it's the reason jeep swap to the ax15 after 1989

I found a rebuilt one near me for 925. Comes with a 12 month warrantee. Should I bite the bullet?

Or I found one near me 75 bucks came off a 93 jk with 160k on it. I can purchase a bell housing for 200 with it.

Welcome to the club and great decision to get out of an expensive new car and get into hopefully not expensive mj.  Looks like it was not abused and with those few miles, it might still be getting broken in.  Check out the "advice" thread, I have gone through it a few times, amazing knowledge on this forum and no attitude to go with it!  The mj is becoming more and more rare and it would be nice if they become collectible someday.  Do you know how many previous owners there were?

Buck.

Really stoked that this is coming along. Found a full ax15 drive terrain with 61k. Paid more than I wanted to $700. I also found a XJ 8.25 rear for it for 150. Quick question might be stupid but the axel is coming off a automatic that should make no difference though correct? Mine is 5spd.

That axle should have 3.55 gears if it came off of an automatic and 5speed axles came with 3.07s...

So you have to either regear or get a front axle from an automatic to match gears front and rear
