johnj92131
Always looking for better, more comfortable seats for a long drive! Have some Grand Cherokee seats in the garage now in the process of fitting for the MJ. Are Ranger and Explorer seats better for a long trip? Looking forward to the seat measurement. neohic
I used seats from a 2004 Ford Escape. They are roughly the same width as the stock seats so they fit very well. Really nice to have some lumbar support in the driver's seat too! ... really old picture. They have since been thoroughly cleaned. I used the stock seat rails and made up some adapter mounts to put the Ford stuff on the Jeep stuff.
CGCWO
I measured the base of a 60/40 Ranger split bench mount today, D/S from door opening to hump is 17". MJ is 14", so that is 3" too wide. Might work with a decent mod. I am trying to figure out if its worth the trouble. I have a line on a set of gray Leather buckets and center console with brackets, the pics look real good and the asking price is reasonable at $150 for all of it. Maybe I will give it a week to see if I really want to try this and he may come down on the price if I let them set for a few more days.

Now if they came in a nice gray leather....

I have to agree. This thread sparked by curiosity so I took a look at my company truck in the driveway (2011 Ranger). I could not see an effective way to put the 60/40 bench in an MJ unless you are okay with a 5" seat lift. Plus, the Ranger 60/40 seat is the most uncomfortable bench seat I have ever sat in. Give me a worn out MJ bench over that any day!
Dadinator
Just another option. Check my build thread last page i believe. 2004 dakota seats.
CGCWO
Thanks for everyones replies, I have to agree with Warrior. After getting a good look at the seats in the Ranger and the lack of a welder too much work for the 64/40 and I am guessing the Ranger buckets have basically the same mounting. So the hunt goes on for some buckets from another Jeep model of maybe the Dakota buckets like Dadinator has. For now I'll be pulling the bench out again and adding some support to the springs and additional memory foam under the original cover. Trying to get rid of the sitting in a hole feeling of a 26 year old seat.
mnkyboy
I really like my Dakota seats but it took some work to get them in there.
Dadinator
Yep the only thing that is direct swap that i know of is comanche seats. The dakota seats required fabrication. In my build thread, there are pics of me grinding. You have to adapt the comanche brackets to the seats you are using or fab some new ones up. Mine sit up higher than mnkyboy's. You can see he went to greater pains to lower his. Mine are the same height as the middle one. I like the sitting up higher. Took some getting used to at first, but i like it. mnkyboy
Even dropped as low as I got them they still sit a bit higher then stock buckets, mine took some getting used to as well. Since my MJ is a trail rig I kinda like sitting up a little higher, I get better visibility then my brother does with stock buckets.
