What's it worth?

Recommended Posts

My wife saw this on the side of the road Saturday.  I went out to look at it Sunday.

'92 Elimimator, 4.0, auto, 2wd, short bed, gray interior.

No spare tire or carrier, passenger front link is snapped (see picture), bed is rusted on both wheel wells, tail gate is rusted.

Rear bumper has rust on the bottom, but not too bad.

Interior is clean with original radio.  Drivers seat has a seam tear.

Looks like factory bed liner.

Selling as is - with tool box.

Asking $1800 OBO.

I have not heard it run or drive.

I've been offered 4K and $4,300 for my MJ (88 Pioneer, 4.0L, BA10, D44) with NO rust anywhere, I bought it for $400, delivered on a flat bed trailer, not running, the interior had bee removed and was in the bed (which was not bolted down)  I put a CPS in it and it started right up.  I've put 2K+ into it and ALOT of work, swearing, blood and sweat into it too (none of it rust related).

Went to look at it again.  Met the person selling it - not the owner.

It started and ran good.  But....

Coolant was dripping out of the cap and some connections were loose and coolant was dripping from those.  Guy said the radiator was just replaced (???)

Valve cover drenched with oil.  Blow back?

Engine bay and block have not been cleaned since it left Toledo, OH.

Body panel under the battery was completely gone.  I could see the grass under the truck.

The heater core was removed.  Guy said the PO had removed it. (So the current owner is not the original owner.)

He said the AC worked.  Yippy!

There is no head liner.  Completely gone.  Again, PO removed.

Said the speedo doesnt work.  All other gauges worked.  So he said.

Told him $500.  He said too low.

I said if it were 4wd it might be worth more, but it was too far gone for anything but parts.  Which is what I would use it for.

WOW...that is long list of issues... you still might be on the high side.

Have learned to appreciate the rust free vehicles I've found in my backyard.

My current driver/project was drug back on a tow dolly not running, 90% complete, ZERO rust ....$600

Why are the photos so microscopic? Is your cell phone from 2004?

$500 is a really fair price for that truck, 92 Elim in green, one of the best combos IMHO. I'm surprised he didn't take $500. Yeah if it was 4x4 it would be worth more.

Coolant dripping, not a super uncommon problem and not a real expensive fix either.

Valve cover drenched with oil, they all are that way.

Engine bay not clean since new, extremely common.

No headliner, not uncommon for it to be gone, drooping, or "pinned" up kind of in place.

Many of those issues are common or easy fixes. The rust less-so.

Hopefully someone saves this and drives it, I'd hate to see a 92 green Elim be used for parts.

Ya its got some rust, but come on man, its a 92   . Those trucks don't just come around everyday. I agree 1800 is to much, but i also have to agree with the seller that 500 is to low. Negotiating is one thing but a low ball like that, right off the bat?     Just my opinion.

Pics help, but without being there i can't really say, but i could see paying 800-1000

Whats the mileage?

How can the a/c work if the heater core has been removed?

Since when does the heater core have anything to do with the a/c? The heater core and the evaporator are two totally independent units.
