fendermb4 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I didn't say it was for a Comanche, or even a truck for that matter. At the end of last summer, I picked up a bumper for my tractor, but never installed it. Then, a couple months ago my wife got me an ATV winch for my birthday. I don't have an ATV, so it wasn't until this weekend that I thought of the perfect use for these two components. I picked up some angle iron and plate at home depot, and welded a winch platform onto the bottom of the bumper. I think it came out pretty clean! Here are some pictures of my new Comanche recovery vehicle:
feerocknok Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 We have that bumper on our lawn mower! Minus the winch, of course. That's pretty BA
JeepcoMJ Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 if you need a bumper on a puny lil mower like that...hire someone to mow, cause you should NOT need to resort to that. interesting, but not too practical...you'll tow the mower before you pull anything with it

I wasn't like "Jeez, I really need a winch on my lawn mower - I don't know how I've gotten along without one." It has no problem pulling my MJ across my driveway and into my garage though. Of course, I could have pushed it just as easily - but that is waaaayyy less fun.
CEThomas Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Have had my mower stuck on the hill and in the ditch a few times that that winch would have been nice :D Charles
KYMJ Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Good excuse to buy an ATV? Thats how my thinking process would have gone. :D Cool anyway.
mjeff87 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 With an open diff on my tractor, and the slope some parts of my yard has, I could have used a winch a time or ten in the past. I ended up breaking both rear wheels trying to bounce the rear end to get traction (wayyy off camber) and had to get them rewelded. Good idea! Jeff
CEThomas Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Well it takes about 7 hrs to push a push mower over my yard :D Even longer if you try to push my big rider  Charles
87manche Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 doesn't anyone push a mower anymore? I do, but I've only got maybe 500 sq ft of actual grass. takes 20 minutes to mow and trim. I suppose the biggest question is, Why did she buy you an ATV winch if you don't have an ATV?

fendermb4 Posted May 9, 2007 Author Posted May 9, 2007 Is that armor all on your wheels? Heh...yeah. Its also got a fresh coat of wax on it. People who put winches on their lawn mowers are the same type who armor all the wheels on everything.
KYMJ Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I suppose the biggest question is, Why did she buy you an ATV winch if you don't have an ATV? Sounds like a hint to me, but he didn't get it. :D
