88ComancheMitch
Maybe this will be a sticky eventually, but I didn't see a topic that had everything in one place that would let you see some swappable parts from various vehicles. I'll kind of start a template...the idea is to have a list of stuff that can be directly, or almost directly, swapped. Hopefully I didn't miss this sticky/section somewhere. Some applicable information. Some has been repeated. Cherokee Junkyard and Budget Jobs Suspension Lift: ZJ coils lift approx 1-2" in the front F150 coils lift approx 3" in the front, but will cause a stiff ride. Spring over axle swap in the rear lifts between 5-7" (wide variance here) For extended brake lines, large dodge ram vans from the same era will fit. TJ Coils fit, but will provide 1" less lift than what is specified (I.e. stock springs = 1" drop, 3 inch TJ coils = 2 inch MJ coils) General Better ride and wheel clearance with WJ LCA's (UCA's will fit, but only give the benefit of a better ride to my knowledge) Driveline: Rear Axle Cherokee rear ends require spring perch relocation, but the D35 and Chrysler 8.25 fit Ford 8.8" will fit, and have commonly sought after gearing (3.73, 4.10, etc) and typically have disc brakes and posi-traction. (Will require spring perch relocation, 1" wheel spacers) Brakes: WJ Brake booster/Master Cylinder. Upgrades braking--Must be done together. YJ brake lines (3-4" longer) WJ Rotors and Calipers (Larger, most stopping power, check fitment with rims) Can convert from drum to disk using ZJ parts. Need everything from the backing plates out. Suggest using brake booster and master cylinder. Dakota ('95-'00) Rear soft brake lines. 6" Longer K1500/GMC Front softlines-require some modification ('90-'95) 6" Longer KJ Disc brakes can be used to convert For extended brake lines, see lift section. dasbulliwagen
There's a thread on naxja called junkyard upgrades that has tone of info like this. I would link to it but am on my phone right now. Good stuff!
Incommando
The dual diaphragm upgrade is worth its weight in gold
benjy_26
95 C1500 brake hoses work for 5 inches of lift in the front with a bit of grinding. ZJ steering box has a quicker ratio and bolts in ZJ V8 Tie rod bolts in ZJ aux tranny cooler makes for a dandy P/S cooler ZJ spring isolators have a metal core and are stackable. Good for a cheeeeaaap budget boost or for leveling a rig from side to side The zj 44A isn't as sought after as the 8.8, but I think if one is building a street 'Manche or keeping the tire size sane, it would make for a strong (enough), cheap, plentiful upgrade that is the right width and comes with discs to boot that is significantly lighter than the 8.8. Incommando
The D44a is not a desired piece and has limited aftermarket support. I have read of guys replacing them with 8.25's....
benjy_26
The D44a is not a desired piece and has limited aftermarket support. I have read of guys replacing them with 8.25's.... Not every peg fits every hole... I agree, the aftermarket SUCKS for the 44A. BUT with the proper truss to alleviate the flexing issues, it should be a pretty strong axle. It has a beefier R&P set up than a regular 44, IIRC. One can also get decent gears for it, up to 4.56's I think. I stand by my statement.

pettus253
Will I need to change out my transmission if i'm converting from 2wd to 4x4? 1990 2wd 2.5L. Have axles out of a 99 XJ.
Incommando
With the 4.0 drivetrain you would need to either get a 4wd tranny (easier) or convert your 2wd output to 4wd (harder). I am fairly certain that it is the same with the 4cyl's trannies.
