Changing The Turn Signal Lights Out

Recommended Posts

i know i've seen somethin bout this before but i can't seem to find it now, people have been making the lenses on their "clear" turn signal lense the "amber" color like on the 01 cherokees, i was wondering if i could pull a set of the turn signal lights for an 01 cherokee and slap em in my 86 MJ or atleast change the lense out between the two?

You want a set of these:

I got them on eBay. I don't see a set listed right now, but keep your eyes peeled.

I'm not positive, but if you could find some lens spray in amber color you might be able to DIY, as far as I know you'd be the first to try that route. I believe Crown also makes aftermarket versions of the European lenses.

Here are the OEM Mopar lenses on my truck. I think they look extra good on trucks with chrome front end parts but hey I might be bias LOL:

Good looking truck! The amber lens look good with the chrome front end. I'm thinking about going clear (with amber lamps) on the side markers with the body colored (silver/gray) front end on my truck.

I'm not sure you could fit a newer pair on there, but the part numbers are Mopar 56000852 and 56000853.

thanks for the numbers, now i gotta google em lol

The 97+ lenses are for 97+ front ends only. They will not work on a MJ stock header panel.

dang, well good thing i got the part numbers from dainternetguy lol, it worth a shot askin,

The quadratec ones are aftermarket (Crown), not OEM. They're probably fine though. For what it's worth I paid $60+shipping new for the OEM Mopar ones on eBay (seller took my offer which was lower than the asking price).

still too much in my opinion, but aftermarket or OEM as long as it works and the part numbers match,

$25-30 each seems to be the going rate. Yeah OEM/aftermarket doesn't matter a whole lot.

Truth be told, I'm in my amber lenses for $92.96 after shipping, exchange, etc. $60 sounded good but it would up being a lot more in the end. Not sure I should have clicked the Buy button after all LOL but I think they look unique and good with the chrome bits.

  • 1 month later...

They all come from Crown (except any N.O.S. OEM units). They're on Crown's web site ( http://www.crownautomotive.net/category/XJ-Lamps.html#56000099 ). Crown won't sell direct to us serfs, but they do list their dealers on the site. It happens that my Jeep dealer also carries Crown, so I often use their stuff if the OEM parts are too expensive.
