Sir Jacob the 2nd Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Has any one retrofitted their comanche's taillights with LEDs or used any aftermarket taillights?
mnkyboy Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 I made corner armor out of 3/16" plate then mounted LEDs in them.
pettus253 Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 MNKYBOY by anychance do you have a thread on the rear corner guards? I love the idea but would need some guidance.
Sir Jacob the 2nd Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 That's a good Idea, looks pretty sick too. I assume you don't have reverse lights?
mnkyboy Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 They are a hybrid LED, the outer edge is a backup light.
Sir Jacob the 2nd Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Oh snap, where did you pick those up if you don't mind me asking
mnkyboy Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 http://www.maxxima.com/products/product_detail/451/Hybrid-Series-LED-Oval-StopTailRear-Turn-and-Backup-Light.html I took the part number and shopped around, I found the best deal on Ebay.
Sir Jacob the 2nd Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Awesome thank you. Has anyone else done it differently?
Sir Jacob the 2nd Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 70/pair For the aforementioned set on mnkyboy's truck?
mnkyboy Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Sounds about right, I paid $60 something on Ebay but that was a couple years ago.
Incommando Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Not a bad price at all considering that they are LED and serve all 4 (S/T/T & back up) rear functions
Spectormj Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 i asked one jeep guy around here and he said cause of my "Taillight Style" he could only do bulbs...not the round style like on a tj or jk Personly i want to do round led taillights cause it would be diffrent.
COFFMAN Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 Has anyone seen the LED lights with amber for indicators.....
Jeep Driver Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 With filler panel and body work........properly done........ http://www.carpartsdiscount.com/auto/parts/catalog/chevrolet~c10-pickup~64.html?3593=246264
Jeep Driver Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 These would be cool too. https://digi-tails.com/1966-67-chevy-nova-led-tail-light-panels
COFFMAN Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 First ones look good.. flat but no amber. Second ones umm would not sit flat and taper in at the top. But could fit amber globe in clear lens for indicator.
DangerWillRbnsn Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I cut and filled the old housing in with sheet metal. Same idea as above, but a little more permanent. I had also bobbed the bed a little at the same time, so it wasn't too much extra work to do these. This is how she sits now after all the body work and paint.
COFFMAN Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Great job on the lights look good.I wonder if mnkyboy tails lights could be made to glow / flash amber for indicators were the clear section is....
mnkyboy Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I havent seen any with amber lights, the clear section on mine are the backup lights.
mnkyboy Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 This was my initial plan but I decided to go with the corner armor instead.
zfinger Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Imitation is the best form of flattery right? Is that the saying?
zfinger Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 NOTE: You will need two of these new LED compatible flashers to make your blinkers actually blink.
