Today's Junkyard Scores... Found Something Rare-Ish

Went to the junkyard today with my sights on getting a Durango steering box and brake master cylinder for my XJ.  There were a ton of Durangos and Dakotas out there.  When I'm there, I always check the Dakotas for the infamous AMC 2.5L and 5-speed.  Sure enough, the last one I checked, a '98, had the engine removed but the 5-speed was still there and still intact.  I jumped into the engine bay and snatched her up.  Can't believe I found one after all this time of searching...  With that said, I have no use for it at the moment since I did the 4.0 swap... If I could've found this last year, I would have been more tempted to stick with a 2.5 and done the AX15 upgrade.

Sweet..wish I could've came across this..it would've been sitting in a box till I came across a 4x4 ax15 which is pretty rare down here

is this the same bell housing that you can use to make a chrysler 2.2 turbo a rwd?

It mates the AMC/Jeep 2.5L to an AX15 5-speed, the AX15 being an upgrade to the stock AX4 or AX5.

I just picked up the same bellhousing from a 96...

Write ups for what?  Swapping an AX4/5 to the AX15?  I don't know any off hand, but I'm sure it can be found via Google or something.

 

Did you pick up that Waggy front clip at the same time?
