Comanche County Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I have a little xj project I'm working on. Guys, how would you restore the surface of these switches? I don't want to paint them and don't want to ruin them through trial and error...normally I wouldn't care but I'm gonna sell this one. I'm thinking there may be some solvent or solution that will make em shine again.
Strokermjcomanche Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Back to black by mothers . The are available aftermarket also Borg Warner # S219
Zebvance Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 What about that wipe new stuff from the comercials lol. I used it on my gf's headlights and it work surprisingly good.
Automan2164 Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Maybe a heat gun? Works on chalky flares and brings back the shine...
Comanche County Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 That heat gun trick might work. Id have to remove the switches though. Thanks for the tip!

92tanMJ Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 That heat gun trick might work. Id have to remove the switches though. Thanks for the tip! I was just going to recomend that. The plastic looks like its the same plastic they use for the flairs. :dunno: I think I would try the heat last..can't really turn back from that lol
Rockfrog Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 All I've ever used to redo black plastic is whatever oil I have handy ... fluid film, wd-40, 5w30 ... wipe on ... wait a minute ... wipe off. Seems to work for me.
