86customanche
I've been looking around for some time and can't find much on what I think is my leaking problem. After taking the fender off and looking under the hood and up behind the pedals it looks like the leak is coming from the clutch. Is that common? From the inside it looks like fusebox but from hood side there's rust around the clutch reservoir. Also, what's the best solution for stopping this leak? Rtv? Silicone? It is rain water that leaks through to the floor board under the pedals.

jimoshel
I'd say that's your clutch cylinder leaking. If you haven't already, get ready to replace the fuse panel. To late for sealant. Replace the cylinder. Haven't you been filling the cylinder often?

Rain is leaking in from somewhere and it looks like the spot at the clutch. Looking down below that where the fuse box wires go through the firewall doesn't look too bad. Seems like it's leaking around the clutch spot in the picture there.

86customanche
I did notice the seal wasn't in the best of shape. Where can I get a new seal or does universal stuff work?

86customanche
Thanks for the link. Order has been placed. Hope it does more than the 23 year old seal on the truck now.
Bobolink
If you think about purchasing ANYthing from teamcherokee.com you'd better be darned sure that you won't want to return it.......you WILL NOT get your money back. Check out the Wisconsin BBB and the internet for complaints against Kenosha County Classics, the name under which teamcherokee.com does business. They offer a 60 satisfaction guarantee, but will not honor it, and you will never hear from them again. They will immediately send you an RGA number to return the merchandise, but from that point on they will ignore any correspondence, will not answer the phone, and will not respond to inquiries from BBB. I ordered a lock and key set, advertised as "genuine Jeep." Ordered late December, told them of my dissatisfaction on Jan 8, returned it on Jan 13, and never got my refund of $39.95. They have ignored every attempt to contact them. I am not alone. Check out the Jeep Cherokee Forum, where others have had or heard of the same problems. I now have my bank working on a charge back, since they've left me no other option.
00DakotaR/T
Ok, I see that it leaks under the pedals. What now. I have the same issue, and have been fighting this for three years now. RTV, nope, silicone, nope, hell even some infomertial crap, STILL LEAKS. I am getting tired of having a wet floor. DO I NEED TO WELD THIS SHUT??? Pete M
chances are pretty good that the water is first getting past the seal at the rear of the hood. :(
88whitemanche
Mine has the same issue...besides the hood seal it can be the gasket from the fuse panel that's finally deteriorated or so old that had a lot of play... I put a hand full of the autozone blue towels down by the panel and it stops the leak a bit not enough to stop the water completely... Idk if you guys noticed in that same corner it seems to fill with water like a cup
oldseddie
The hood seal is still available from the dealer. It is for the late models but fits fine. I think it was around $30.
