SmthnD1ff Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 pictures make it look alot better in person it still is obvious it needs alot to be finished. I'm having problems getting the curves of the bezel lined up and the gauge cluster looks terrible IMO but I am gonna leave it for now until I can grab more parts.
Wrz Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 looks good so far, what the dash come out of a liberty?
SmthnD1ff Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 nope a WJ got the entire interior doors forward for $70
DangerWillRbnsn Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Very cool man, I'm enjoying the pics. Keep it up.
SmthnD1ff Posted January 9, 2014 Author Posted January 9, 2014 none yet still dealing w dash supports and odds and ends of the swap. havent had any spare money to get parts but I'm planning on swapping for the wj center console in a few weeks and seeing about 97+ doors if money permits. christmas just wiped me out yhis year
SmthnD1ff Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 little update- trying out plasti dip fpr the first time. the center console just didnt look right up against the dark grey dash. finish is a bit rough but if i don't like it in a week or two ill just paint it properly
Wrz Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Center console looks good, don't think the shifter and 4wd shift line up, I tried to install one a few weeks back
SmthnD1ff Posted January 11, 2014 Author Posted January 11, 2014 mines 2wd so i havent had a problem w it
SmthnD1ff Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 So here is where I'm at and a bit stuck at the moment. Doesnt look like alot of progress but it took some time to get everything lined up and then it all had to come back out to be wired properly...
SmthnD1ff Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 notice the stock headlight switch wedged up under the column? I wanted to run a simple toggle switch for the headlights and running lights but everyone on here said it was a bad idea and no on has given any input as to what then is possible to eliminate this eyesore and safely switch the headlamps.
SmthnD1ff Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 this is my other problem... the wj glove box doesnt fit and now I have this unfinished area... any suggestions?
Comanche County Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Take the WJ glove box and cut the back of it off, then shape a new box with cardboard then use epoxy or fiberglass and make the box portion shallow enough to fit. Then it will still look clean when closed.
SmthnD1ff Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 true but there isnt much room the fan is right there. i could just put the glove box cover on it i guess but then its just a non functional faux glove box...
Wrz Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Just an idea, but why not mount the glove box cover there for looks and try to remove the airbag cover and make an compartment behind it? Would be a pretty cool hidden compartment
