Pete M Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 needs to be a clear shot of the "Comanche" emblem with no hard shadows and taken with the camera properly squared up to the emblem and from at least a couple feet away). BUT the big caveat is that it needs to be in good shape and painted. the shiny chrome emblems just aren't working. before I go painting mine I was hoping someone out there that had already painted theirs could snap a photo for me. color matters not. First person to get a useable image to me gets a free decal :D email to comancheclub@hotmail.com
GirsMJ86 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Like the entire thing painted over or just the background behind the letters?
GirsMJ86 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Darn, I don't have any like that. Just scuffed up old one with the black painted back on behind the letters.
MancheKid86 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 *edit* thought i had somethin but nothin
FrankTheDog Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Does it need to be on the jeep or can it be off?
Akula69 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Pete - Look in Sept COTM at the second photo (on the fender) . If that is what you are looking for I will pull that fender out of storage and take you several good close-ups.
Pete M Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 yup. just needs to be painted so there's no reflective chrome on it. on the Jeep or off, doesn't matter. just needs to be as squared-up as possible in the image.
Akula69 Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 On it. If it will ever stop raining here (we are putting life jackets on the frogs) I'll get your picture.
dancome433 Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I might have some Comanche emblems that were painted, Ill have to check my stash,
FrankTheDog Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Primer ok? I may have an emblem I can shoot with gray primer tomorrow. I won't be using it on my truck.
Pete M Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 color matters not. it just can't be reflective. My own phone can take an acceptable pic, so I'd guess an iphone can too. just make sure the camera is as squared up as possible.
FrankTheDog Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Sent a couple. Let me know how they work and what needs to be different.
Pete M Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 they look pretty good. but I need the "Comanche" fender emblem.
FrankTheDog Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Duh, will shoot one withe primer and send it out tomorrow. I'm at work now. Does anything else need to be different?
FrankTheDog Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Luckily I have a couple Comanche emblems too. It helps to experiment with the more common 4X4 emblem first. I took twelve pictures before I picked one to send.
Pete M Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 I hear ya :) took scores of photos of that MJ racing poster before I got one good enough. :D
Alicia Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Did you find what you were looking for? I painted mine an the 4x4 flat black a few days ago and they turned out awesome.
Pete M Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 got a couple options so far. waiting on the opinion of the guy doing the vector work as to what is usable. but feel free to snap a couple pics if you'd can. the more options, the better. :D just make sure they are squared up and level to the emblem and with no harsh shadows so all the edges are clearly visible.
dlee Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Here's one on eBay- http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Comanche-Fender-Emblem-/221272807788?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3384e3196c&vxp=mtr#ht_23wt_1043
Akula69 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Sent you several images. Because this is a "spare" fender, I can (alternately) remove the emblem and position it on a better surface, or re-paint it if necessary. Let me know.
Pete M Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 didn't get anything. :dunno: make sure you sent them to comancheclub@hotmail.com
